HEADLESS Unveils New Single “Weightless” Ahead of Upcoming Album ‘Transitional Objects’

European progressive hard rock outfit HEADLESS has returned with their latest single, “Weightless,” available now on all streaming and download platforms. Fans can also watch the animated music video directed by Dime Stamenov (Sabaton, Uriah Heep, Saxon) HERE.

A Preview of ‘Transitional Objects’

“Weightless” serves as the first glimpse into HEADLESS’ forthcoming album, ‘Transitional Objects,’ set for release in late summer 2025. Mastered by Ted Jensen (Dream Theater, Metallica), the track encapsulates the band’s signature fusion of intricate guitar work, dynamic rhythms, and soaring melodic vocals.

Guitarist Walter Cianciusi describes the single as “a hyper-prog song” filled with complex rhythmic textures and a deeply personal lyrical theme:

“This single delivers a brand-new level of complexity. It’s a hyper-progressive song where the rhythm section creates an intricate tapestry at the limits of human performance. At the same time, the vocal melody remains smooth and uplifting, narrating the growing bond between a father and son.”

He further explains that the new album is:

“A no-frills heavy release featuring eight solid prog songs that mark the absolute peak of HEADLESS’ career. We achieved a level of chemistry and craftsmanship that will likely remain unparalleled in future releases.”

A Legacy of Excellence in Hard Rock and Progressive Metal

One of the defining elements of HEADLESS’ sound is the unmistakable voice of Göran Edman, the Swedish singer renowned for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Vinnie Vincent, Madison, Swedish Erotica, Glory, Karmakanic, and many more.

Formed in 1996 by cousins Walter (guitars) and Enrico Cianciusi (drums), the band initially released ‘Future to Past’ (1996) and ‘Inside You’ (1998) before disbanding in 2000. Walter later revived the project in 2011 with a fresh lineup, incorporating elements of progressive metal, melodic rock, and AOR-style choruses.

The band’s comeback album ‘Growing Apart’ (2013) featured Queensrÿche’s Scott Rockenfield on drums, followed by ‘Melt the Ice Away’ (2016) (featuring Jim Matheos of Fates Warning). Their 2021 release, ‘Square One’, marked their debut with M-Theory Audio and introduced bassist Martin Helmantel (Elegy), further strengthening their sound.

Izzy Reign: Defying Doubt, Embracing Chaos, and Building a Movement Through Music

Izzy Reign’s journey into music wasn’t born out of convention or industry expectations—it was a calling, a necessary act of self-expression that almost never happened. The first spark ignited when she saw Enter Shikari’s music video for “Sorry You’re Not a Winner,” a moment that set her on the path to forming a band and stepping onto a stage. But becoming the artist she is today? That came much later, through a different kind of battle—one fought in therapy rooms between 2023 and 2024. It was there she learned to strip away the fear, to embrace the discomfort of true creative freedom. No more molding herself to fit industry standards. No more second-guessing what she was “supposed” to do. She was finally able to create exactly what she needed to, no matter how different or unconventional it seemed.

Her influences are just as unexpected. While many would assume her sound is shaped solely by metal, her creative DNA includes Imogen Heap’s atmospheric innovation, the pulsing energy of Eiffel 65 and late ‘90s techno, and the bold genre-defying presence of Missy Elliott. They all left their mark, weaving together into the raw, emotionally charged music she now brings to life in metal.

Doubt has never been a stranger. It lingers in the background every day, whispering reasons to stop, to hesitate. But Izzy has learned to ignore it. “Do it anyway,” she tells herself. Life is temporary, and there’s no sense in holding back. The music industry didn’t erase her insecurities, but it did teach her to keep pushing forward, to grow both in her craft and within the ever-expanding community that now defines her.

Her latest work isn’t just about sound—it’s a message. A reminder that no one is alone. That mental health matters. That empathy is everything. Life’s struggles don’t have to mean the end, and it’s okay to not be okay. But finding a way to navigate those struggles, to seek help, is just as vital.

Staying true to her artistic vision means ignoring the idea of balance entirely. There is no calculated strategy to meet expectations or industry trends. Izzy writes from experience, crafting songs that reflect her own life in ways others can relate to. Connection is the only goal, the only expectation.

Collaboration is on the horizon, but so far, her journey has been a largely solo endeavor. That’s changing soon, and she’s ready to dive into creative partnerships that push boundaries even further. Signing with FiXT has already proven to be a turning point—not just for the opportunities it brings but for the community it offers. That, above all else, has been the most exciting part of the partnership.

When she’s not creating, Izzy finds solace in streaming on Twitch three times a week, connecting with fans in real time. She’s also a self-proclaimed nature addict, happiest when surrounded by trees, camping under the stars, or adding yet another plant to her already overgrown collection.

Despite her fearless stage presence, every performance is a battle against anxiety. The fear never fades. The nerves never go away. But that doesn’t stop her. She does it anyway. Forces herself onto the stage, into the moment—and once she’s there, she loves it.

The future is a blur of controlled chaos. There are no limits, no neat genre boxes. Fans can expect even more unexpected twists in her upcoming projects—more boundary-pushing, more unpredictability. Five years from now, she doesn’t just see a career. She sees a massive, thriving community. Not just fans, but people who uplift and inspire each other, who recognize their own worth. Music is just the vehicle. The mission is so much bigger.

As the industry shifts with the rise of AI and evolving technology, Izzy remains unfazed. Creativity has always thrived on tools, whether they’re instruments, production techniques, or even artificial intelligence. As long as the heart of music remains intact, innovation will never be a threat.

“‘False Grail’ was the last song we wrote before entering the studio. It came together relatively quickly based on ideas that Stikker brought in—he had it well fleshed out, but we expanded the closing doom section to really emphasize the dynamic shift in the song. We also knew we wanted string accompaniment, so we had Eva Vonne from Isenordal add mournful viola layers after tracking was completed.”

Matt Stikker on the Song’s Concept:

“Lyrically, the song is a nightmare reflecting the disconnect between the true and projected self, and the increasing tension between those poles that we all experience. The map is not the territory, but when the map prefigures and gradually dictates the territory, our agency is threatened forever.”

Formed in Portland in 2012, DROUTH (formerly known as Contempt) has carved a reputation in the extreme metal underground for their seamless blend of black metal, death metal, doom, and crust. “This is a piece written by [guitarist] Michael Stancel. The frantic intro riff was actually written on tour in the UK on a boat in Bristol. I remember filming him playing it so we wouldn’t forget how to play it. The show was sold out and ruled, and then all of our gear got rained on because they had us load out so they could have a disco after the show. Shame!”

Stancel adds:
“If I could have set that venue adrift, I would have—but at least we got a song out of it.”

Massive Ego Return with Dark yet Hopeful Single and Music Video: “(My) Death Song”

Massive Ego, the UK-based dark synth-pop band, is back with their striking new single, “(My) Death Song”. Accompanied by an emotionally charged music video, the track offers listeners a bold evolution in sound—combining dark themes with an unexpected message of hope and self-reflection.

“I’m bruised, but I’m alive,” declares frontman Marc Massive in one of the standout lyrics, setting the tone for a song that journeys from vulnerability to defiance. Opening with softer vocals, the track lures listeners into a false sense of security before delivering a punch of raw emotion, channeled through snarling vocals, gnarly guitars, and climactic synth-driven energy.

Catharsis through Creativity

Reflecting on the track’s deeply personal nature, Marc Massive explains, “This song became a necessary cathartic exercise. I was in such a bad headspace that writing this track helped me work through it. Had I not discovered self-help books, meditation, and professional support, I wouldn’t have made it through. The process of rising from despair has been miraculous for my creativity, and this new album reflects that transformation in every song.”

A New Era for Massive Ego

The single also signals a major shift in the band’s musical direction. Long known for their synth-heavy sound, Massive Ego now incorporates a raw guitar edge that brings a fresh intensity to their music.

Guitarist Porl Young, formerly of Rosetta Stone, describes the experience: “Adding guitars to Massive Ego’s synth-driven sound has been an exciting challenge. ‘(My) Death Song’ gave the guitars space to breathe, allowing for a seamless blend of arpeggios and heavy chords that adds a raw, distorted edge to the electronic foundation.”

Keyboardist Lloyd Price adds: “This single is a real departure from our past work. The combination of electronics with heavy guitars offers a glimpse into the eclectic mix on the upcoming album.”

Visual Evolution

As the band prepares for their 30th anniversary in 2026, drummer Olly Frost—known for his constantly evolving appearance—hints at a new visual direction. “For Marc, his iconic look became both a trademark and a prison. Personally, I intend to explore less makeup-driven styles and focus more on form and color saturation, which fascinates me.”

About Tränen Lügen Nicht

The track is a modern cover of Michael Holm’s 1974 German chart-topping schlager hit of the same name. Originally set to the melody of Soleado by Italian artist Ciro Dammicco, the song was later reimagined as When a Child Is Born and became a global hit, including a popular version by Johnny Mathis that reached the UK’s coveted Christmas no. 1 spot in 1976. Eisbrecher’s version maintains the melodic nostalgia of the original while infusing it with their signature industrial rock style.

Despite being distinct from the album’s core sound, Tränen Lügen Nicht quickly became a fan favorite and was added to Kaltfront’s tracklist due to its overwhelming reception.

New Album on the Horizon

Last month, DIMMU BORGIR returned to the studio with longtime producer Fredrik Nordström to craft the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Eonian. This marks the band’s first album since the departure of longtime guitarist Galder (Thomas Rune Andersen) in August 2024.

In a recent interview with Jerry Kurunen of Rauta, guitarist Silenoz discussed the creative process behind the new material:

“We’ve been working on new material for quite a while. Even during the pandemic, we were each developing ideas individually before coming together to create something truly unique. We take our time to ensure that every album surpasses expectations, and this one will be no different.”

Although details remain scarce, Silenoz hinted at a return to a heavier, more orchestrated sound reminiscent of Abrahadabra and Eonian.

DIMMU BORGIR: Evolution & Lineup Stability

Over the years, DIMMU BORGIR has evolved from its raw Norwegian black metal roots into a symphonic powerhouse, blending cinematic orchestration with blistering intensity. Speaking on the band’s stylistic changes, Silenoz noted:

“We’ve never confined ourselves to traditional labels. Every album represents growth. Whether it’s the orchestrations of ‘Abrahadabra’ or the atmospheric elements of ‘Eonian,’ our music constantly evolves. The new album will take on its own life.”

In December 2023, they released Inspiratio Profanus, a collection of cover songs via Nuclear Blast Records. The compilation featured VENOM‘s thunderous “Black Metal”, DEEP PURPLE‘s “Perfect Strangers”, TWISTED SISTER‘s “Burn in Hell”, and classic renditions of CELTIC FROST, among others.

During the Inferno Festival, former band members ICS Vortex, Mustis, and Tjodalv rejoined DIMMU BORGIR on stage to perform “The Insight And The Catharsis” from their 1999 album Spiritual Black Dimensions, marking a nostalgic moment for longtime fans.

VampireFreaks proudly presents Dark Force Fest—a spectacular 3-day music festival featuring a powerhouse lineup of goth, industrial, darkwave, and post-punk acts from around the world.

This thrilling event will showcase 35 bands across two stages, including headliners ORGY, The Birthday Massacre, Covenant, and Suicide Commando, along with standout performances by:

Venue Details

Dark Force Fest will take place at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, NJ, just one hour from New York City. This castle-style hotel boasts 44,000 square feet of event space and 370 hotel rooms. While accommodations at the main venue sold out quickly, there are still rooms available at overflow hotels in the surrounding area.
