Antania Joins Psyclon Nine on U.S. ‘Devils Work’ Tour in 2025

The rising “Doom Bass” pioneers Antania are set to join industrial metal heavyweights Psyclon Nine on their highly anticipated ‘Devils Work’ Tour across the United States this spring. Known for their groundbreaking fusion of black metal, doom metal, and electronic bass music, Antania continues to captivate audiences with their innovative sound and visceral live performances.

Heralded as the inventors and champions of the “Doom Bass” subgenre, Antania has been active since June 2023, quickly carving a unique niche in the metal and electronic music scenes. Drawing influences from Slayer, Ministry, The Prodigy, Morbid Angel, and Deicide, the band has been likened to “the Slayer of bass music.”

The duo, composed of Dr. Luna (bass and electronics) and Kali Mortem (vocals), forgoes traditional string instruments, creating their sound by wrapping distortion around saw and sub-bass lines using a microbrute synthesizer. Clan of Xymox will release the highly anticipated Blood of Christ EP on December 6, 2024, following their acclaimed 2024 album Exodus, with the title track also included on the album. Along with the original version of Blood of Christ, the EP introduces a brand-new track, You’re The One, plus six remixes of each song, offering a total of 64 minutes of atmospheric, dark wave excellence.

Having spent much of 2024 touring Europe and North America in support of Exodus, Clan of Xymox will hit the road again in January, with dates across ten European countries early in 2025. Additional shows will follow in Mexico and the United States, including an appearance at the Cruel World Festival in Los Angeles on May 17. Earlier today, the band shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their recording process, posting a photo of drummer Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski in the studio alongside Nordström, captioned simply, “#studiotime.”

This forthcoming album also represents a significant transition for the band, following the August 2024 departure of guitarist Galder (Thomas Rune Andersen), a longtime member of DIMMU BORGIR’s infernal core.

In a March 2024 interview during the Inferno Festival in Oslo, guitarist Silenoz (Sven Atle Kopperud) shared insights into the band’s creative process. He explained:

“We’ve been working on new material for a while. Even during the pandemic, we used our downtime to work individually before collaborating to create something unique. Fans want a new album quickly, but we’d rather take the time to make something better than good.”

Discussing their stylistic evolution, Silenoz noted the band’s shift away from traditional black metal early in their career:

“Even on our first album, we began exploring beyond the ‘underground black metal’ label. Each album represents a natural progression, and we’ve never set boundaries for our creativity. ‘Eonian’ leaned more into orchestration, but who knows what the next album will bring?”

DIMMU BORGIR’s lineup has seen many transformations over the years. Reflecting on this, Silenoz said:

“After so many years, you understand yourself and your bandmates better. It’s not just about writing music—it’s about getting along offstage too. Age and experience have helped us maintain a more stable lineup.”

Currently, DIMMU BORGIR’s official lineup comprises Shagrath (lead vocals) and Silenoz (rhythm guitar), supported by session musicians Daray (drums), Geir “Gerlioz” Bratland (keyboards), and Victor Brandt (bass).

Released in 2018 to commemorate the band’s 25th anniversary, Eonian was an ambitious effort that expanded the symphonic elements first introduced with 2010’s Abrahadabra. Following its release, DIMMU BORGIR toured globally, captivating audiences at legendary festivals like Wacken Open Air and Hellfest.

In December 2023, the band unveiled Inspiratio Profanus, a compilation of electrifying covers from metal legends such as VENOM, DEEP PURPLE, and CELTIC FROST.

Fans were treated to a nostalgic moment at Inferno Festival 2024 when three former members — bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex, keyboardist Mustis, and drummer Tjodalv — joined DIMMU BORGIR on stage to perform The Insight And The Catharsis from their 1999 album Spiritual Black Dimensions.

“Object of Desire (Extended MIXXX)” is a leather-clad journey through love and obsession, drenched in pulsating rhythms and shadowy melodies. Danish death metal/metallic hardcore goliaths LIFESICK today drop their fiery new video for "Hollow Treats." The savage new track comes off the band’s equally ferocious full-length, Loved By None, Hated By All full-length, released on November 1st through Metal Blade Records.

LIFESICK manifests brutal and brutally honest songs with lyrics inspired by the turbulent nature of life. Musically influenced by Swedish death metal, the band’s authentic and explosive mixture of crushing tones and modern breakdowns create an uncompromising sound and vision.

Comments the band on "Hollow Treats," "When we were born, we were told all these fairytales about what the world had in store for us. But as soon as you get a taste, you realize there’s nothing inside – no love, no compassion, nothing. This song is catchy with groovy two-step rhythms and even groovier breakdowns. It’s a hardcore track with plenty of sing-along parts, and it ends with a twist of acoustic elements."

LIFESICK was forged in Fredericia, Denmark in 2015. After three full-lengths of increasing weight and intensity, 2023’s Life And Other Lies EP brought the band’s sobering death/metallic hardcore to Metal Blade Records, where they have come of age with the kaleidoscopic fury and ironclad gloom of Loved By None, Hated By All.

As with previous offerings, the LP was recorded by Jacob Bredahl at his Dead Rat facility. This time Bredahl’s role expanded beyond engineering, helping to shape and revise new material before twiddling a single knob. "He came down to our rehearsal room where we played all the songs for him live, so he could add his touch to each song or edit stuff that we might have been a little blind to from playing the songs too much. This was the first time we did this, and it was very effective."

Mixing was farmed out to Taylor Young at The Pit, "to give it a different touch or nuance from our previous releases," while the tracks were handed to noise collective John Cxnnor, "to enhance the album with sound design and samples throughout every song, to better unify the album. We provided them with all the songs, along with keywords about the lyrical themes and the album artwork. With this information, they created unique dark industrial samples that perfectly fit the songs and our vision for the album."

The results ring loud and clear from this tumultuous masterwork of bleak aggro beauty. Loved By None, Hated By All is unquestionably the band’s finest recording to date which is no easy feat considering the compulsive force of previous releases — there is some special spark of magic at work here.
