NEW MUSIC: ‘DEVILS WORK’ & ‘AND THEN OBLIVION
The tour coincides with the release of ‘Devils Work’, PSYCLON NINE’s new single, dropping February 14th. This follows their recent release, ‘I Choose Violence’, a blistering anthem that previews the band’s upcoming full-length album, ‘And Then Oblivion’, arriving March 7th via Metropolis Records.
Nero Bellum describes ‘I Choose Violence’ as: “A deliberate genre-defying statement that remains true to the dark, visceral aesthetic of PSYCLON NINE. Lyrically, it’s a reflection of the world we live in—an anthem for the unseen and unheard.”
EUROPEAN TOUR & RECENT RELEASES
Since their formation in 2000, PSYCLON NINE has cultivated a devoted global following, performing at major European festivals including Dark Malta, Castle Party (Poland), and four appearances at Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany) to crowds of 30,000+ fans. The band is set to return to Europe in 2025 for another blistering run of dates.
Their previous album, ‘Less To Heaven’ (2022), shattered genre conventions, blending metalcore, doom electronics, trip-techno, black metal, and cinematic soundscapes. The record spawned singles like ‘Money And Sex And Death’ and ‘See You All In Hell’, followed by the ‘More To Hell’ remix album in 2023.

New Album on the Horizon
Last month, DIMMU BORGIR returned to the studio with longtime producer Fredrik Nordström to craft the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Eonian. This marks the band’s first album since the departure of longtime guitarist Galder (Thomas Rune Andersen) in August 2024.
In a recent interview with Jerry Kurunen of Rauta, guitarist Silenoz discussed the creative process behind the new material:
“We’ve been working on new material for quite a while. Even during the pandemic, we were each developing ideas individually before coming together to create something truly unique. We take our time to ensure that every album surpasses expectations, and this one will be no different.”
Although details remain scarce, Silenoz hinted at a return to a heavier, more orchestrated sound reminiscent of Abrahadabra and Eonian.
DIMMU BORGIR: Evolution & Lineup Stability
Over the years, DIMMU BORGIR has evolved from its raw Norwegian black metal roots into a symphonic powerhouse, blending cinematic orchestration with blistering intensity. Speaking on the band’s stylistic changes, Silenoz noted:
“We’ve never confined ourselves to traditional labels. Every album represents growth. Whether it’s the orchestrations of ‘Abrahadabra’ or the atmospheric elements of ‘Eonian,’ our music constantly evolves. The new album will take on its own life.”
Despite various lineup changes, the band’s core remains strong. DIMMU BORGIR’s official lineup is now:
DIMMU BORGIR’s last full-length album, Eonian, was released in 2018, coinciding with the band’s 25th anniversary. The album solidified their reputation as one of symphonic metal’s most innovative forces, followed by worldwide tours and festival appearances.
In December 2023, they released Inspiratio Profanus, a collection of cover songs via Nuclear Blast Records. The compilation featured VENOM‘s thunderous “Black Metal”, DEEP PURPLE‘s “Perfect Strangers”, TWISTED SISTER‘s “Burn in Hell”, and classic renditions of CELTIC FROST, among others.
During the Inferno Festival, former band members ICS Vortex, Mustis, and Tjodalv rejoined DIMMU BORGIR on stage to perform “The Insight And The Catharsis” from their 1999 album Spiritual Black Dimensions, marking a nostalgic moment for longtime fans.

The rising “Doom Bass” pioneers Antania are set to join industrial metal heavyweights Psyclon Nine on their highly anticipated ‘Devils Work’ Tour across the United States this spring. Known for their groundbreaking fusion of black metal, doom metal, and electronic bass music, Antania continues to captivate audiences with their innovative sound and visceral live performances.
Heralded as the inventors and champions of the “Doom Bass” subgenre, Antania has been active since June 2023, quickly carving a unique niche in the metal and electronic music scenes. Drawing influences from Slayer, Ministry, The Prodigy, Morbid Angel, and Deicide, the band has been likened to “the Slayer of bass music.”
The duo, composed of Dr. Luna (bass and electronics) and Kali Mortem (vocals), forgoes traditional string instruments, creating their sound by wrapping distortion around saw and sub-bass lines using a microbrute synthesizer. Sponsored by KAT Percussion, Dr. Luna delivers intricate polyrhythms over trap beats and blast beats, while Kali Mortem’s blackened, abrasive vocals evoke a haunting intensity.
“This tour is a dream collaboration,” said Dr. Luna, also a high priest at the Temple of Hecate in New York City. “We’re excited to bring our ‘Doom Bass’ sound to Psyclon Nine’s fans and see how the dark aesthetics of both bands resonate.”
Antania’s critically acclaimed debut album, The God Complex (January 2024, The Triad Records), has garnered praise from fans and press alike. Metal Digest called it “a filthy record of utter low-frequency brutality”, highlighting tracks like “Black Glitch Six” and “Trophy.” Their recent single “D3D Solz” further demonstrates their innovative sound, solidifying their place as pioneers of a new metal subgenre.

Norwegian symphonic black metal titans DIMMU BORGIR have officially entered the studio with longtime collaborator and producer Fredrik Nordström. Fans are eagerly speculating that this marks the creation of their much-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Eonian.
Earlier today, the band shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their recording process, posting a photo of drummer Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski in the studio alongside Nordström, captioned simply, “#studiotime.”
This forthcoming album also represents a significant transition for the band, following the August 2024 departure of guitarist Galder (Thomas Rune Andersen), a longtime member of DIMMU BORGIR’s infernal core.
In a March 2024 interview during the Inferno Festival in Oslo, guitarist Silenoz (Sven Atle Kopperud) shared insights into the band’s creative process. He explained:
“We’ve been working on new material for a while. Even during the pandemic, we used our downtime to work individually before collaborating to create something unique. Fans want a new album quickly, but we’d rather take the time to make something better than good.”
Discussing their stylistic evolution, Silenoz noted the band’s shift away from traditional black metal early in their career:
“Even on our first album, we began exploring beyond the ‘underground black metal’ label. Each album represents a natural progression, and we’ve never set boundaries for our creativity. ‘Eonian’ leaned more into orchestration, but who knows what the next album will bring?”
DIMMU BORGIR’s lineup has seen many transformations over the years. Reflecting on this, Silenoz said:
“After so many years, you understand yourself and your bandmates better. It’s not just about writing music—it’s about getting along offstage too. Age and experience have helped us maintain a more stable lineup.”
Currently, DIMMU BORGIR’s official lineup comprises Shagrath (lead vocals) and Silenoz (rhythm guitar), supported by session musicians Daray (drums), Geir “Gerlioz” Bratland (keyboards), and Victor Brandt (bass).
Released in 2018 to commemorate the band’s 25th anniversary, Eonian was an ambitious effort that expanded the symphonic elements first introduced with 2010’s Abrahadabra. Following its release, DIMMU BORGIR toured globally, captivating audiences at legendary festivals like Wacken Open Air and Hellfest.
In December 2023, the band unveiled Inspiratio Profanus, a compilation of electrifying covers from metal legends such as VENOM, DEEP PURPLE, and CELTIC FROST.
Fans were treated to a nostalgic moment at Inferno Festival 2024 when three former members — bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex, keyboardist Mustis, and drummer Tjodalv — joined DIMMU BORGIR on stage to perform The Insight And The Catharsis from their 1999 album Spiritual Black Dimensions.
As DIMMU BORGIR begins work on their new album, the metal world awaits what promises to be another boundary-pushing masterpiece from one of the genre’s most innovative bands. Stay tuned for more updates as they emerge from the studio.

Supporting HARDWAREZ The tour supports MBR’s latest album, HARDWAREZ, released last month via Metal Blade Records. The record delves into the duality of technology, continuing MBR’s legacy of innovative soundscapes.
HARDWAREZ builds upon the foundations laid by Personal Computer (2022) and Floppy Disk Overdrive (2020), marking a bold evolution in MBR’s sound. Composed entirely via MIDI and live-streamed on YouTube during its creation, the album introduces live guitars for an enhanced sonic experience. The result is a dynamic blend of pulsating rhythms, intricate arpeggios, and majestic riffs that bridge the gap between synthetic and organic soundscapes.
This unique approach earned HARDWAREZ impressive chart positions in its first week: USA – Billboard
The air crackles with rumors – Throbbing Gristle, the godfathers of industrial music, might be reuniting. This news undoubtedly sends shivers down the spines of veteran Dark/Alt/Dance aficionados, but before we all succumb to a nostalgia-fueled frenzy, let’s dissect the potential impact of this event.
On the surface, a Throbbing Gristle reunion is a cause for celebration. Their music, a transgressive blend of noise and social commentary, shattered the boundaries of popular music and paved the way for the industrial scene we know today. For many, the chance to witness these pioneers live would be a pilgrimage, a connection to the very roots of their musical identity. Furthermore, a reunion could introduce Throbbing Gristle to a new generation, sparking a resurgence of interest in industrial music as a whole.
However, nostalgia can be a double-edged sword. The industrial landscape has drastically morphed since Throbbing Gristle’s reign. Their sound, while undeniably groundbreaking, might not resonate with fans accustomed to the genre’s modern iterations. Will a reunion simply be a cynical exercise in reliving past glories, or will it offer something fresh and relevant to the current scene?
The answer hinges heavily on the nature of the reunion itself. Are all original members on board? The absence of a key figure could dampen the experience for some. More importantly, what is the artistic motivation behind the reunion? Is it a genuine desire to explore new sonic territories, or a mere cash grab fueled by nostalgia?
As a passionate advocate for Dark/Alt/Dance culture , I believe reunions can be valuable if approached thoughtfully. A Throbbing Gristle reunion could reignite interest in industrial music’s history, fostering a deeper appreciation for its legacy. However, for this to be truly meaningful, the band must demonstrate a commitment to artistic evolution. They should use the reunion as an opportunity to engage with the contemporary industrial scene, perhaps collaborating with younger artists or incorporating modern production techniques.
Ultimately, the success of a Throbbing Gristle reunion hinges on its ability to bridge the gap between the past and present. It can be a catalyst for a vibrant dialogue within the industrial scene, one that honors its heritage while pushing its boundaries forward. Let’s hope the potential reunion lives up to the legacy it seeks to celebrate.

KIRLIAN CAMERA, the avant-garde musical innovators, are offering a tantalizing preview of their highly anticipated album, ‘Radio Signals for the Dying.’ This sneak peek comes in the form of the single “Il Tempo Profondo (Radio Signal Version)” and its visually immersive counterpart, the video for “Il Tempo Profondo (Dark Psychedelia Vision).” Lead vocalist Elena Alice Fossi guides us into the profound concept of ‘deep time,’ portraying it as the expansive temporal dimension where humanity is intricately interwoven with Earth and geological forces.
In her insightful commentary, Fossi delves into the intricate layers of this concept, highlighting it as the vast canvas upon which human experience unfolds. The focus is on liberation from the cyclic patterns of existence, a wheel perpetuated by the self-centered desires of humanity. Within this framework, “Il Tempo Profondo” becomes more than a song; it emerges as a sonic exploration of the human condition, grappling with notions of hatred, craving, and delusion that persist within the intricate tapestry of existence.
This single, “Il Tempo Profondo,” is not just a standalone release but the herald of a larger musical narrative. It stands as the lead track from the much-anticipated double album, “Radio Signals for the Dying.” For eager listeners, this transformative musical journey is available for pre-order on CD and limited vinyl through Dependent Records. With this release, KIRLIAN CAMERA once again establishes themselves as pioneers of avant-garde sound, inviting audiences to step beyond the ordinary into a realm of musical transcendence.

It’s starting to feel a lot like fuck this: While many of us are dusting off old photos and sentimental items, Swedish melodic death metal virtuosos SOILWORK have unearthed a different kind of trip down memory lane. Today, the band digitally releases ‘Kvicksilver’, a Swedish version of ‘Mercury Shadow’, originally released in 2002 on SOILWORK’s fourth album, Natural Born Chaos.
SOILWORK states: “Here’s an old gem from the vaults! ‘Kvicksilver’ means ‘mercury’ in Swedish, and somehow we decided to make a Swedish version of one of our songs during the recording of the Natural Born Chaos album, back in 2002. We think it turned out pretty damn cool and definitely deserves to be shared with the world at this point. Enjoy ‘Mercury Shadow’ – all sung in Scanian dialect, we give you ‘Kvicksilver’!”

MACHINE HEAD released their explosive 10th studio album, “ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN,” in Autumn 2022. The band also unveiled the music video for the track ‘NØ GØDS NØ MASTERS,’ directed by Mike Sloat.
Robb Flynn, founder of MACHINE HEAD, excitedly declared, “Head Cases! This will be the greatest metal tour on earth! So stoked to be getting back on the road in America/Canada with 4 masters of soul-crushing heaviness and an absolutely earth-shattering bill. Fear Factory has long been our brothers-in-arms, pioneers, and innovators of a sound that had yet to exist. Orbit Culture are the fast-rising Swedish modern metal maniacs bringing their unique spin to the world, and Gates To Hell absolutely blew my mind at Milwaukee Metalfest with their sheer savage brutality. North America, we’re ready to crush skulls, crush beers, and crush everything in our path!”
Dino Cazares of FEAR FACTORY commented, “We are honored to be touring with the mighty Machine Head. We came up in the metal scene together, and both bands have left their mark on modern metal. Plus, Robb has been a good friend of mine for close to 30 years. We are excited for the metal fans to see this amazing package, and we can’t wait to get out there. Let’s go!”
ORBIT CULTURE added, “It is such an honor for us to be going on tour with Machine Head and Fear Factory across North America. We look forward to bringing our brand of metal to you all. Beware of the antlers North America!”
GATES TO HELL chimed in, “Machine Head was one of the bands that inspired Gates to Hell to form. They’re a personal favorite of several of us. Out of all the tours we’ve had the opportunity to be a part of over the past year, this is definitely the one we’ve been most excited for. Very excited to share the stage with Machine Head, Fear Factory, and Orbit Culture.”
With this lineup, the tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for metalheads throughout North America. Prepare for an onslaught of sonic intensity as these four bands unite, creating what will undoubtedly be one of the most talked-about metal tours in recent years!
