“The songs on The Loss follow the sequence of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’ famous stages of grief, but in my reading I found descriptions of very specific flavors of grief that often go unacknowledged—bonus grief, if you will. Anticipatory Grief is the pain of watching loss creep slowly toward you, knowing it’s coming, and feeling helpless in that long descent.”

“We are proud to present The Teeth of Time, a culmination of several years of blood, sweat, and pain. It is a nightmare made manifest, and we are both eager to share our creative work and grateful to the many people who helped make it possible.”

To mark the album’s announcement, the band has unveiled “False Grail,” a harrowing preview of the hellscape awaiting listeners within The Teeth of Time. First premiered at Invisible Oranges, the track delivers an ominous, suffocating atmosphere that perfectly sets the tone for the album.

Matt Solis on “False Grail”:

“‘False Grail’ was the last song we wrote before entering the studio. It came together relatively quickly based on ideas that Stikker brought in—he had it well fleshed out, but we expanded the closing doom section to really emphasize the dynamic shift in the song. We also knew we wanted string accompaniment, so we had Eva Vonne from Isenordal add mournful viola layers after tracking was completed.”

Matt Stikker on the Song’s Concept:

“Lyrically, the song is a nightmare reflecting the disconnect between the true and projected self, and the increasing tension between those poles that we all experience. The map is not the territory, but when the map prefigures and gradually dictates the territory, our agency is threatened forever.”

About DROUTH 🖤

Formed in Portland in 2012, DROUTH (formerly known as Contempt) has carved a reputation in the extreme metal underground for their seamless blend of black metal, death metal, doom, and crust. Produced by Igor Amadeus Cavalera, the album’s recording took place at John Aquilino’s Platinum Underground Studio, enveloped in the mystic ambience of the Superstition Mountains’ foothills. The mixing and mastering were deftly handled by Arthur Rizk (CAVALERA, SOULFLY, TURNSTILE ). The eerie artwork, in perfect harmony with the album’s title, was envisioned by Santiago Jaramillo of Triple Seis Design. EPICA – Unleashes New Live Single & Video for ‘Consign To Oblivion (Live At The AFAS Live)’

Amidst their festival season, symphonic metal titans EPICA make a powerful return with another live single from their upcoming digital EP, Live At The AFAS Live. Originally the title track of their second studio album, and one of EPICA’s heaviest tracks, ‘Consign To Oblivion’ has not only become a real classic but also the ultimate final song of most EPICA shows, always starting with an obligatory wall of death right after the intro.

Mark Jansen comments, “Over the years ‘Consign to Oblivion’ became our favorite track to conclude our shows with. Every time we tried another track, it never had the same impact as Consign to Oblivion. I’m happy everyone can now witness the live version that we played in Amsterdam to a fantastic home-country-crowd!”
