A Dystopian World Returns 💀
Lord Of The Lost are revisiting a pivotal chapter of their history with Empyrean 2026, a 10th anniversary edition of their 2016 concept album Empyrean, arriving September 18 through Out Of Line Music.
The original Empyrean imagined humanity centuries into its own destruction, searching the stars for a supposedly perfect world that could offer salvation. That concept gave Lord Of The Lost room to push beyond straightforward gothic metal, colliding dark rock, industrial electronics, glam, progressive elements and massive melodic hooks inside a sprawling science-fiction narrative.
A decade later, that dystopian vision feels remarkably at home in 2026.
More Than a Straight Reissue ⚙️
Empyrean 2026 expands considerably beyond the original album. The 3CD edition pairs the core record with a collection of bonus material featuring rare songs, alternate interpretations, lockdown-era performances, a piano version of “The Love Of God,” the fan-club anthem “One In A Million,” and additional material from the Empyrean universe.
A third disc takes the reconstruction even further with 12 Headphone 3D Mixes, offering another perspective on songs including “Miss Machine,” “Drag Me To Hell,” “Raining Stars,” “Doomsday Disco” and “Death Penalty.”
Collectors are also getting something Empyrean never received during its original run: its first vinyl edition. The anniversary campaign includes a limited white double LP alongside a limited blue cassette, 3CD edition and multiple physical bundles.
Rather than simply putting an old record back into circulation, Lord Of The Lost and Out Of Line Music are reopening the world surrounding Empyrean and giving one of the band’s most expansive records a significantly larger physical and sonic presentation ten years later.
