Dark Force Fest 2026 Announces Electrifying Lineup and Immersive Experience


Dark Force Fest, the ultimate gathering for fans of industrial, gothic, darkwave, EBM, and electronic music, is set to make its highly anticipated return in 2026. Taking place from May 1st to May 3rd at the Sheraton in Parsippany, New Jersey, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience with an array of genre-defining artists, iconic performances, and an unparalleled atmosphere of music, art, and community.

Presented by VampireFreaks, the 2026 edition of Dark Force Fest brings together a diverse collection of acts, both well-established and emerging, from the world of dark, industrial, and electronic music. With performances spanning three nights, fans can expect a wide variety of genres, from aggressive industrial to melodic darkwave and everything in between. The festival has confirmed a total of 35 bands performing over three days, plus two bands on the Thursday night pre-party.

Confirmed Lineup Spotlight

  • London After Midnight – A rare performance from this influential dark wave / post-punk band from the early 90s, known for their goth-club hits and headlining major festivals worldwide.
  • Combichrist – One of the most popular bands in the electro-industrial “aggrotech” movement, recognized for dominating dance floors with aggressive bangers and successful tours with Rammstein, including a performance at Madison Square Garden.
  • Front Line Assembly – A Canadian electro-industrial band formed by Bill Leeb in 1986 after leaving Skinny Puppy. They are highly revered as one of the pioneers and godfathers of the industrial music scene.
  • Das Ich – A German dark wave/gothic-industrial band formed in 1989 and one of the prominent founders of “Neue Deutsche Todeskunst” (New German Death Art).
  • Leaether Strip – The solo project of legendary Danish electronic industrial artist Claus Larsen, formed in 1989. Leaether Strip quickly built a reputation as one of the most exciting emerging industrial acts in the early ’90s.
  • LaPlegua – A new industrial supergroup featuring legendary Norwegian artist Andy LaPlegua and bandmates. They will be playing favorite songs from his career, including Icon of Coil, Combichrist, Panzer AG, and Scandy, plus original material.
  • Ultra Sunn – The Brussels dark wave duo making waves across the world. Their chart-topping hit “Keep Your Eyes Peeled” quickly amassed over 34 million Spotify plays, and they’ve been touring the world ever since.
  • PIG – The British industrial group founded by Raymond Watts, featuring En Esch, both original members and songwriters of KMFDM.
  • Rabbit Junk – Formed in 2004, this American digital hardcore act pulls from multiple electronic and guitar-driven genres to deliver a punk & metal-fueled reconstruction of the goth-industrial sound.
  • Priest – An electronic-industrial act from Sweden, containing ex-members from Ghost. With millions of streams, praised global tours, and critically acclaimed releases, they have successfully generated an ever-growing fanbase worldwide.

Maduro Announces New Album Death Kiss, Pre-Orders Now Live

Re:Mission Entertainment has officially opened pre-orders for Death Kiss, the highly anticipated new album from dark electronic artist Maduro. The full album is scheduled for release on October 17, 2025.

Death Kiss follows the artist’s earlier EP, Worse for the Wear, and marks a significant evolution in Maduro’s sound. The album is a 10-track journey that merges the raw energy of classic EBM with contemporary production. It delves into themes of love, loss, and inner conflict.

SpanktheNUN Declassifies New Project, BLAK

Industrial music provocateurs spankthenun have released a new project titled BLAK, which they are presenting not as a traditional album but as a “declassified sonic dossier.” The release is framed as an urgent advisory to the public, warning of an “imminent data release” detailing a phenomenon described as a subculture unified by a stark, dark aesthetic.

The band states that the project is a deep-field study into a “memetic contagion” and that the tracks themselves are “stabilizations” of data. These sonic interpretations include “The Singularity Edit,” which represents an act of separation from the mainstream, and “The Event Horizon Edit,” which explores the boundary of this subculture. A third track, “The Absolute Zero Rendition,” captures what the band calls the sound of “elegant, defiant isolation.”

On June 20th, I released the long-awaited reissue of my debut album. This isn’t just a simple re-release; it’s a complete reinvention of the 2005 original, rebuilt from the ground up using all the original samples and synthesizers.

👁 Flesh Field: Reawakened and Reforged

Formed by Ian Ross in Columbus, Ohio in 1996, Flesh Field erupted onto the scene with an aggressive yet orchestrally grand vision of electro-industrial. Their debut, Viral Extinction, quickly earned attention for its layered textures and dramatic sonic architecture—setting a benchmark for dark electronic music at the turn of the millennium.

After releasing the Redemption remix EP in 2000 and the critically lauded albums Belief Control (2001) and Strain (2004), the project went silent. Despite that, Flesh Field’s music endured—appearing in the soundtracks of True Blood, The Mill, and Project Gotham Racing.

Ross eventually reemerged in 2023 with the concept album Voice of the Echo Chamber, examining the psychology of political radicalization. A companion EP, Voice of Reason, followed in 2024.

Now, 25 years after its initial release, Viral Extinction is reborn—remastered and once again relevant in a world teetering on its own digital precipice.

Douglas McCarthy, the commanding voice of Nitzer Ebb and a trailblazer of Electronic Body Music (EBM), has died at the age of 58. The band confirmed his passing on social media, asking fans to respect the privacy of McCarthy’s wife and family during this difficult time. No official cause of death has been disclosed, though McCarthy had previously revealed he was battling liver cirrhosis and had stepped back from touring in 2023.

🖤 A Voice Like No Other

McCarthy’s snarling, confrontational vocal style became the signature of Nitzer Ebb, a band that fused punk’s fury with industrial dancefloor power. From the drill-sergeant intensity of “Join in the Chant” to the swaggering chaos of “Fun to Be Had,” McCarthy’s delivery cut through robotic drums and menacing synths with visceral force.

He didn’t just sing—he commanded. Tracks like “Let Your Body Learn” and “Murderous” weren’t just club hits; they were marching orders for a new wave of outsiders ready to break free from conformity and musical cliché.

Formed in 1982 in Chelmsford, England, Nitzer Ebb was founded by McCarthy, Bon Harris, and David Gooday—schoolmates with a shared taste for sonic rebellion. Their band name, cobbled together from cut-up newspaper clippings, reflected the abstract, jagged energy of their music—lean, muscular electronics with zero fluff.

Their 1987 debut That Total Age became a cult industrial landmark, while follow-up albums Belief, Showtime, and Ebbhead pushed their sound into darker, more experimental terrain. Collaborations with Depeche Mode’s Alan Wilder, especially on Ebbhead and later through Recoil, helped refine their blend of brutality and elegance.

McCarthy once said his stage persona was inspired by witnessing Nick Cave perform with The Birthday Party—a moment that confirmed for him the importance of forging an identity that screamed: “Fuck everyone.”

🎤 Beyond Ebb

After Ebbhead, McCarthy joined Wilder’s Recoil, lending his voice to haunting tracks like “The Faith Healer,” “Stalker,” and “Incubus.” He also launched Fixmer/McCarthy with techno producer Terence Fixmer, and released his only solo album, Kill Your Friends, in 2013.

Despite these detours, McCarthy never left Nitzer Ebb behind for long. The band reunited in 2006 and returned with 2010’s Industrial Complex and 2011’s Join in the Rhythm of Machines EP. Their sound found new fans through placements in Saw sequels and Grand Theft Auto IV, where “Let Your Body Learn” made a fierce reappearance.

⚠️ Health Struggles and Final Years

In 2021, McCarthy collapsed on stage in Florida due to post-COVID complications but insisted on continuing the tour. In 2023, he announced his temporary retirement from performing, citing a long recovery from liver cirrhosis. “For over two years, I haven’t been drinking, but recovery is a long process that can at times be extremely hard to predict,” he wrote.

Even with these setbacks, his presence in the industrial scene remained undiminished—his voice and spirit forever entwined with the genre’s DNA.

Douglas McCarthy wasn’t just a frontman—he was an antihero of the underground, a defiant force who rejected conformity and embraced confrontation. About FLESH FIELD:

Flesh Field was founded in Ohio in the mid-90s by composer Ian Ross. Renowned for its widescreen cinematic sound achieved by blending synths, percussion, guitar, and sampled choir, the group’s music soon earned plaudits for its aggressive approach and subsequently featured in a number of film/TV soundtracks and video games. Having retired the name in 2011, Ross eventually relocated to Virginia, where he resurrected Flesh Field to issue an album entitled ‘Voice of the Echo Chamber’ in late 2023 and the companion piece ‘Voice Of Reason’ EP in April 2024.

Their debut album, ‘Viral Extinction’, was released three years later, earning glowing reviews for its brutal and aggressive sound, while some of its songs were subsequently remixed by several contemporaries (including scene leaders Covenant) and issued together with some new songs on the album-length ‘Redemption’ EP in 2000.

Highlighting the band’s compositional skills with bombastic symphonic elements and intricate synth and percussion programming, 2001’s ‘Belief Control’ solidified Flesh Field’s status as a band to be reckoned with. It also led to the group signing to Metropolis Records for the US release of their third album, ‘Strain’. With new layers of acoustic and electronic percussion, guitar, and choral effects added into the mix, these elements resulted in an an epic and anthemic feel to a record that was acclaimed by fans and critics alike.

Then, silence. For almost two decades, Flesh Field lay dormant, even as numerous tracks from their catalog were placed in the soundtracks of films including ‘The Mill’, TV shows such as ‘True Blood’, and video games like ‘Project Gotham Racing’. ‘Voice Of The Echo Chamber’ suddenly appeared in 2023; a concept work with each of its ten tracks representing stages of political radicalization and violence, it was followed by an album length companion piece EP entitled ‘Voice Of Reason’.

Fêted electronic artist Rhys Fulber takes you further back and forward with his first solo release for Artoffact, Memory Impulse Autonomy. The album harks back to the music that Fulber made in his youth, inspired by bands such as Cabaret Voltaire, Portion Control, and fellow Vancouverites Skinny Puppy, but blends those influences with the brutalist rhythms and harsh industrial techno that he has been pioneering in recent years.

Thematically, the record explores his joy of creating music for the first time in the Eighties, using primitive equipment with a freedom of expression driven only by his imagination.

’The title refers to fond memories of my roots in making electronic music and the excitement and passion I had for these sounds that were new at the time,’ Fulber says. ‘That style is embedded in me. Going back to them allowed me to make music on impulse, and many of the instrumentals were created from studio jams.’

While there are distinct nods to the past in the gnarly Richard H Kirk-esque cut ups of ‘All Of You Go To Heaven’ and ‘Baaderzeit’s’ eerie Tangerine Dream-like sequences, the album is also very much a modernist collaborative effort, utilizing voices from the forefront of contemporary electronic music including William Maybelline (Qual/Lebanon Hanover), Years of Denial’s Barkosina, and Hamburg-based aufnahme+wiedergabe recording artist Konstantin Unwohl.

‘The vocalists are new artists who are inspired by a similar era,’ Fulber adds.

Darkwave and EBM artist Qual guests on two tracks, lending his trademark lugubrious vocals and bleakly humorous lyrics to the dark techno of opening track and first single ‘The Abyss’ and the strident rhythmic ‘Control’.

Suicide disco icon Barkosina takes a moment to shine amid the sweeping synth lines of ‘Only Love Will Save Us’, a moodily atmospheric club banger with timely lyrics, while Unwohl, a genre-bending artist with a growing cult following and a series of groundbreaking releases, delivers a sonorous vocodered turn on melancholic electro-ballad ‘Nichts Dafür Getan’, a slow burning epic with lyrics that Unwohl originally wrote for a punk song.

Elsewhere, the chugging dancefloor friendly ‘Exlavier’ and the titanic beats of ‘New Despotism’ contrast with the pretty interlocking textures of ‘The Elder’ and the gently pulsing ambient closer ‘Further Back And Forward’.

The distinctive cover art comes courtesy of legendary graphic designer Steven R Gilmore, perhaps best known for his decades-long relationship with Skinny Puppy and his work for Vancouver-based label Nettwerk, for whom he provided eye-catching sleeves for A Perfect Circle, Moev, Severed Heads, Chris & Cosey, and many others.

’The concept for the album is not a total replication of the past, except in the case of the artwork, which recalls that era at its peak’, says Fulber.

Fulber is a longtime member of Canadian industrial outfit Front Line Assembly and ambient pop duo Delerium (both with Bill Leeb), and solo project Conjure One. As a producer, he has worked with artists as varied as Fear Factory, Paradise Lost, Sinead O’Connor, Sarah McLachlan, and Youth Code.
