After a long and torturous break since their formation in 2013, Eld Varg is back in action, and they mean business! Led by the fearless Ollie Noakes, this one-man army officially launched in 2021 with their debut album, aptly titled ‘One Man Army’. Drawing inspiration from heavy metal legends like Grand Magus, Amon Amarth, Ningen Isu, and The Sword, Eld Varg brings the thunder with their raw and powerful sound.
What’s even more impressive is that Ollie Noakes took charge of everything, from writing and performing to producing and mixing, leaving no stone unturned at his epic ‘Fort Noakes Studios’ in Scotland. Talk about a true musical warrior!
Lyrically, Eld Varg is a force to be reckoned with. Their combative, triumphant, and introspective themes often transport you to mythical realms, where they rub shoulders with the gods themselves, spinning original and victorious tales that will leave you craving more.
But that’s not all! In 2022, Eld Varg released an acoustic version of the epic anthem ‘Wastelands’ from their debut album, all for a noble cause—to raise funds for Ukraine. To make it even sweeter, they dropped a professionally recorded music video alongside it, showcasing their artistic prowess.
Hold on tight, because the thunder is about to strike again! On May 19th, 2023, Eld Varg unleashed the beast once more with the ‘Reinforced Edition’ of ‘One Man Army’. This epic release features each song meticulously reimagined and rerecorded, showcasing the jaw-dropping growth in musicianship, production, professionalism, and overall presentation of Ollie and his formidable band. This is the definitive and flawless version of ‘One Man Army’, and now the focus shifts to their highly anticipated second album, which is already written and ready to rock your world. The recording process begins in the second half of 2023, so prepare yourselves for an unstoppable onslaught of metal madness!
While Eld Varg remains Ollie Noakes’ solo project, he has assembled a powerhouse live band to bring the thunder to the stage. Brace yourselves, because this power trio is gearing up for their explosive live debut in July 2023, and you won’t want to miss it!

Faderhead has taught people since 2007 how to give presentations (it was one of the subjects he taught at the sports academy) and this course is a mix of 15+ years experience as a lecturer for presentation training and 27 years as a musician on stage.
If you ever have to give presentations for school, job or in any other setting, then there’s a 99% chance that you have never had useful training for how to communicate your ideas to people. And no, the one weekend seminar your company paid for in 2007 doesn’t count. Neither does the thing your professor told you 30 years ago or that article you read in your favorite online mag.
Faderhead hasn’t found any course online that’s even remotely close in content quality for this specific topic. Because they either are “public speaking” courses (like Toastmasters) or “How to design Powerpoint slides” classes.
Or they are €1000+ in-person weekend seminars, where you spend a ton of time (16h) in a hotel and in the end still have to do all the work to improve your skills at home.If you have to give presentations in any setting, then you will benefit immensely from this course.
The website Rockstar Presenter is providing good value and so here is a bonus lesson that Faderhead also added to the course recently:
10 STEPS TO BECOMING A ROCKSTAR ONLINE PRESENTER
The Covid-19 pandemic became the beginning of online meetings and presentations on a mass scale.
While almost all rules for giving good in-person presentations still exist in online meetings, there are new pitfalls and skills that you need to master to become a Rockstar Online Presenter.
The first major issue is that – very quickly – the presentation becomes about your shared screen and not about you as a person/presenter. That means: everyone just reads your slides, while you have disappeared. This is terrible, because everyone can read the slides much faster than you can talk about them. It also removes you from the presentation.
My favorite way to get around that is by using an app called mmhmm
Faderhead knows the name sucks, but the app is great for engaging presentations, because during a virtual meeting it lets you be on screen at the same time as your presentation slides:
It works with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet and if you give a lot of presentations online, mmhmm is my favorite choice for virtual presentations.Zoom also allows you to do something similar, by setting your PowerPoint or Keynote slides as a virtual background. For an in-depth explanation on how to do this, you can read more here.
Unfortunately neither Teams nor Google Meet seem to allow this, which is why Faderhead preferes mmhmm, which is a standalone app that acts as your virtual camera.
Regardless of which technical solution you choose:
Make sure you are on screen at the same time as your slide content! The difference in connection this creates is off the charts! Try it and bathe in the positive feedback you will get!
10 Steps To Becoming A Rockstar Online Presenter:
Step 1:
Know your software inside out! Be it Zoom, Teams or whatever you are using. Do you know how to: Share your screen Share files Give admin or speaker roles to other people Use the chat Mute/Unmute yourself and others Turn your camera on/off Use filters and evaluate if blurring the background would be appropriate
If not, figure it out before you move on to step 2.
Step 2:
You have to give a very engaging presentation; Reading facts off a slide doesn’t cut it anymore! It’s harder to keep people engaged when they’re looking at a screen and may be getting distracted by something in their real life. Unless you have a clear system and plan to do this, you will be terrible at it. Trust me, most professional presenters are terrible at it. Luckily my course teaches you exactly how!
Step 3:
If the meeting is just about communicating facts, save everyone the time and send a PDF or a pre-recorded video (Faderheaduse Loom for that). Live presentations/meetings should only happen if you are personally trying to communicate ideas that need your presence for emotional reasons or to clarify/negotiate/persuade.
Step 4:
Online presenters often look at their screen instead of into their webcam.
This looks very impersonal!
Put your presentation content window right under your webcam and look at it! If you have a separate webcam, put your webcam above the screen that has your presentation content. Then put your presentation content window right under your webcam and look at it. Faderhead can’t stress this enough. It makes a big difference!
Step 5:
Get everything ready long before the meeting. Online meetings often start late because the presenter has to check this or that. Or has technical issues (see step 1).
Step 6:
The presenter should be in a quiet space with no background noise. If that is impossible, use a good headset mic with background noise cancelling technology.
Step 7:
Enforce mute for everyone except the speaker; Background noise from many people builds up quickly and ruins any online meeting/presentation! In discussions: mute yourself when you are not speaking. Setup “push-to-talk” for that! That is a function where you have to press a key to temporarily unmute yourself and talk.
Step 8:
Know how long you will talk. Leave ample time for Q&A and plan it 50/50 or 60/40 with your talk.
Step 9:
Giving presentations is not natural for anyone. Often “good talkers” are the worst presenters because they think they can just wing it. Don’t be that person!
Step 10:
Additional steps for successful and productive online meetings: Only invite people who are actually relevant to the meeting. If it’s unclear who the participants are going to be: try to sort that out beforehand! Send an agenda before the meeting. If there is no agenda, the listeners can’t prep and don’t know what’s needed of them. Include 2 additional sections at the very end: “next steps” and “q&a” Send a summary email after the online meeting, especially if to do’s were agreed upon. Include: who, what, by when in a simple list format.
Seth Godin said it best when he wrote:
The purpose of a meeting is not to fill the allocated slot on the Google calendar invite. The purpose is to communicate an idea and the emotions that go with it, and to find out what’s missing via engaged conversation. If you promise not to check your email while we’re talking, we promise to not waste your time.
Hope you got something out of this, even if you don’t have to give presentations for school or work!
When writing down these 10 steps, my initial thought was
“Duh! That’s all so obvious!”,
but less than 1% of all presenters actually do all of this!
80% don’t do ANY of these things – and just by incorporating the easiest ones would improve their presentations by a lot, and that is the interesting part about life: Most people are terrible at what they do, and being better than most people isn’t that hard, It just requires attention to detail and a little bit of effort.

Hold onto your hats, folks, because the German sensation 2ND FACE is back and ready to blow your mind! After their debut album “Nemesis” rocked the scene in 2017, expectations were sky-high for their sophomore release. Well, brace yourselves because mastermind Vincent Uhlig has not only met those expectations but surpassed them with his mind-blowing album “utOpium.”
This sound magician, who also happens to be a certified audio engineering genius, has created a masterpiece that’s not just ear candy for audiophiles, but also a showcase of exceptional songwriting and lyrical depth. “utOpium” is transparent, detailed, aggressive, and powerful—a perfect fit for the industrial genre that 2ND FACE dominates. Uhlig has poured five years of blood, sweat, and tears into this beast of an album, paying homage to the industrial scene’s history while carving his own unique path.
Lyrically, “utOpium” takes you on a journey deep into the human mind, exploring self-awareness and reflecting society’s fragmented state. In a world hypnotized by (social) media and ignoring climate change and war, 2ND FACE holds up a subtle mirror to wake us all up.
Formed by Vincent Uhlig in the captivating city of Mainz, Germany, in 2014, 2ND FACE quickly caught the industry’s attention with a string of demos and their self-released single “First of His Name.” Their 2017 debut album “Nemesis” was hailed as the “newcomer of the year,” impressing critics and fans alike. The EP “Nihilum” solidified their rising star status in the industrial sky.
“utOpium” is not just a leap in quality—it’s a quantum jump that will set the benchmark for the industrial genre for years to come. So, gear up, put on your headphones, and crank up those speakers because “utOpium” is about to detonate in your ears!

The album title, “Backdraft,” cleverly alludes to a phenomenon that happens during fires. Just like when a fire consumes all the oxygen in a closed space, the band’s creative fire was rekindled when they started composing new tracks for an EP. The result? A full-length album bursting with musical awesomeness.
GIRLS UNDER GLASS has fearlessly delved into dystopian themes in their lyrics, reflecting the sinister and powerful vibes of their sound. And guess what? The band’s original vocalist, Thomas “Tom” Lücke, is making a triumphant return, sharing vocal duties with current singer Volker Zacharias. Talk about a blast from the past!
Since their formation in 1986, GIRLS UNDER GLASS has been a driving force in the German gothic rock and dark wave scene. They’ve explored various musical genres, from rock to crossover and even metal, expanding their sonic horizons along the way. PSY’AVIAH feat. SORROW STORIES releases Healing EP
This Bandcamp release includes an exclusive booklet with lyrics plus 2 bonus remixes by LECTREAU (Passenger A from METROLAND) and DYNALECTRIC ORCHESTRA!
PSY’AVIAH is now closing the “Bittersweet” chapter in beauty with Yves Schelpe’s stunning collaboration with Tina Forlorn of SORROW STORIES. “Healing” is maybe the most representative song from this conceptual album after all, where you can realize that, “there is joy in pain and that tears can taste so sweet”… A more laid-back melancholic dark pop song with strong highly expressive vocals leading breakbeat arrangements and sinister melodic synth-lines.
For the occasion of this new EP release, both artists recorded together an exclusive bonus song: “Heaven Is Not Enough” that mixes metaphorical lyrics, sorrowful atmospheres with more upbeat dark electronics. A touching piece of work playing with double meanings and questioning whether dreaming of death to feel alive makes any sense when “Heaven is not enough” and might be your new Hell… a sort of beginning of the finale in a place where there is no conclusion because you need to recreate yourself altogether!?
PSY’AVIAH here again is joined by artists from various music scenes including some noticeable usual partners in crimes to serve us a more than eclectic cocktail of remixes including AESTHETISCHE, PEOPLE THEATRE, AIBOFORCEN Eric C. Powell, Eva X, NATURES OF WIRES, ENEMY INFESTATION, 13TH ANGEL and 11GRAMS…
And always remember on bittersweet days, that in pain there’s strength to be found… It can’t always be sunshine!
LIGHTS A.M releases Afraid To Let Go EP, and a live video, from Alfa Matrix
Norwegian cinematic ambient electronic project LIGHTS A.M. (aka Erlend Eilertsen of ESSENCE OF MIND) presents to us an all new quite dark and eerie ambient single featuring “Not Ready For This” with layers of synths and some tribal almost ritualistic percussions, while “Afraid To Let Go” is more organic and enchanting although it remains very melancholic, ethereal and dreamy (and this especially expressed through the live bonus version on this EP).
The first previews of a new sonic voyage where the listener creates their own journey.
This is how Erlend himself perceives it: “Both these tracks have some of the same emotions, though in different ways. “In Not Ready For This” I see fog, a challenge, and fear of going through it, while in “Afraid To Let Go” the challenge is to let go of something which doesn’t serve you, but still being afraid of what will happen after you let go. So it is basically fear, sadness and melancholia blended together, quite dark yes…”.
808 DOT POP Releases two new EPs- AM1040 & FM96.9 on AlfaMatrix
Passenger S turns on his radio once more after the release of the well-received companion CD albums “FM88.2” and “AM1350” (and “MW720” on digital platforms).
The two new 808 DOT POP EP’s “FM96.9” and “AM1040” both place the second single, “Distant Voices” in the spotlight.
Again Lis van den Akker takes the honours singing on the main song creating an ERASURE-esque vibe. Light weight sequences and gentle yet driving melodies over an effortlessly rippling bass line will leave no lover of the pure synth-pop untouched.
Next to a reworked version of the album track “Modulation”, almost acting as another ‘A side’ track, there are two exclusive titles, one being ‘FM/AM’ and the brand new track “The Boys Of Wireless”, inspired by the 1912 book by Frank Webster. Still following the concept of crystal and wireless radio, there are two new extended versions, one of ‘Distant Voices’ and ‘Modulation’ topping it all off with a hard hitting club mix by Belgian artist ‘Sequence 5’.
There is no better way to truly end 808 DOT POP’s broadcastings, and to start aching for a nice hot summer, than with this fizzing pop song “Distant Voices”.
Lyrics: Taste the waste Of our neon disgrace Deformed children made from corporate gods grace Better wear your mask because The air melts your face No one wins in this human race
I pledge allegiance to my own corruption Preserving my freedom of self destruction I want to be the one with the most damage You can’t tell me how to live on my
Slum planet
My trash hate and lies Piled as high as I like So welcome to my Slum planet I don’t care if you live or you die As long as your willing to buy So welcome to my Slum Planet
The only thing here built to last Is the engine that turns your world to trash My domain is the future pain Light your path like a moth to the flame My trash hate and lies Piled as high as I like So welcome to my Slum planet
I don’t care if you live or you die As long as your willing to buy So welcome to my Slum Planet
Behind my plastic faces Sealed off inside glass cases My machine my machine will grant it All the dreams of a slum planet
“Today we shall no longer live in shame and regret of our inability to coexist in accord with nature. We must embrace our superior position upon this planet and recognize it as a resource for our disposal and no matter how finite of a resource it is, we shall live for today and not question the limitations of tomorrow as we are the gods of now. Thank you for your donation”
My trash hate and lies Piled as high as I like So welcome to my Slum planet
I don’t care if you live or you die As long as your willing to buy So welcome to my Slum Planet
Behind my plastic faces Sealed off inside glass cases My machine my machine will grant it All the dreams of a slum planet

Blackbriar Releases New Song “My Soul’s Demise” and Unveils Music Video
Blackbriar, the Netherlands-based gothic/symphonic metal band, is excited to announce the release of their latest song, “My Soul’s Demise,” accompanied by a captivating music video. The band’s second full-length album is currently in the works and will feature long-time collaborator Joost van den Broek.
“My Soul’s Demise” explores the theme of love and pain, delving into the sacrifices one is willing to make for their loved ones. Inspired by the medieval practice of sin-eating, the song draws parallels between consuming sins and personal experiences. Lead vocalist Zora Cock shares her personal connection to the lyrics, which were influenced by her father’s struggles with psychosis and the story of a sin eater from England.
The music video was filmed at a medieval 12th-century church in the Netherlands, adding to the atmospheric and fitting visuals. Blackbriar enlisted the help of their loyal patrons and even featured Zora Cock’s parents in the video, creating a personal and immersive experience.
Formed in 2012, Blackbriar has been captivating audiences with their enchanting blend of storytelling and symphonic metal. Their journey began with the release of their single “Until Eternity,” which gained widespread attention and has since garnered over 18.1 million views. The band has independently released EPs such as “Fractured Fairytales” and “Our Mortal Remains,” showcasing their ethereal and captivating sound.

Produced by Joost van den Broek, the album further solidified Blackbriar’s reputation as masterful storytellers.
Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Blackbriar continued to captivate audiences with sold-out shows in the Netherlands and successful tours across Europe. MASSACRE Surprises Fans With “Submergence: Live Beyond 2019” Album and East Coast Tour
Floridian death metal legends, MASSACRE, have released a surprise live album titled “Submergence: Live Beyond 2019” today, digitally available through Nuclear Blast Records. The record showcases a monumental performance of their highly sought-after debut album, “From Beyond,” played in its entirety. The lineup features Kam Lee on vocals, Rick Rozz on guitar, Mike Borders on bass, and Mike Mazonetto on drums. Coinciding with the album release, the band is embarking on an East Coast tour with MORTA SKULD and DRUID LORD, starting tonight in Miami, FL.
MASSACRE, hailing from Southern Florida, rose to prominence in the early 80s alongside death metal pioneers like DEATH, OBITUARY, and SIX FEET UNDER. Their legacy began with a series of revered demos: “Aggressive Tyrant” (1986), “Chamber of Ages” (1986), and “The Second Coming” (1990). They later released their critically acclaimed debut album, “From Beyond” (1991). In 2021, the band made a highly anticipated return with “Resurgence.” The album showcased the original members, Kam Lee (vocals) and Mike Borders (bass), alongside renowned death metal musicians Rogga Johansson, Jonny Pettersson, Scott Fairfax, and Brynjar Helgetun, resulting in a powerful record produced by Dan Swanö and engineered by Jonny Pettersson.
Vocalist Kam Lee shares his thoughts on the live record: “This release is for the fans. It’s all about fan service, dedicated to those who truly wanted it and asked for it. It’s the closest thing to the original lineup of ‘From Beyond.’ This was the first time we performed all of ‘From Beyond’ live. It marked the return of MASSACRE since their reformation in 2017, and it was also the first show with Mike Borders since 1987. It proved that MASSACRE was back, showcasing their resurgence and delving into the band’s legacy.”
To catch MASSACRE live, check out their tour dates with MORTA SKULD & DRUID LORD:

CHICAGO’S POST-PUNK DUO BELLHEAD TO RELEASE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED EP ‘GOOD INTENTIONS’ ON FRIDAY MAY 5TH ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS
Bellhead, a post-punk duo from Chicago, IL, USA,, will be releasing their highly anticipated EP ‘Good Intentions’ on May 5th, across all platforms.
This new release comes after the band spent most of 2022 touring to support their critically acclaimed sophomore release ‘Dead Lights’.
‘Good Intentions’ features six new songs that explore a pop sensibility while giving nods to New Order and a wink to Jesus and Mary Chain. The lead single “Valentine” evokes Depeche Mode synth lines and Placebo style bass grooves while exploring the themes of loss and hope or death and forgiveness. The EP includes other songs like “Bad Taste” and “Into the Deep”, which tackle topics like unsavory stalkers, unreliable narrators, and blood-thirsty sirens at sea. The EP’s second half includes Bellhead’s take on Love and Rockets’ hit “No Big Deal”.
Bellhead’s previous surprise single, a cover of Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U”, quickly gained popularity and earned over 6,000 plays on Spotify within 30 days of its release. The band has toured alongside international and national touring artists in 2022, and their 2023 spring dates include two shows with gothic acts Clan of Xymox and The Bellwether Syndicate. Afterward, they will co-headline nine dates with NYC’s coldwave artists The Clay People before ending the month of May as direct support for LA’s dark electronic duo Night Club in Chicago.
Bellhead has worked with their trusted production team to deliver ‘Good Intentions’, which includes audio engineer Neil Strauch (Iron and Wine/Counting Crows/Owls/Joan of Arc/Walking Bicycles/Slow Mass), mastering engineer Carl Saff (Acid Mothers Temple/Smoking Popes/Red Fang/Guided by Voices), and management team David Schock (WTII Records).
BELLHEAD spent 2022 touring alongside international and national touring artists Powerman 5000, Holy Wars, Then Comes Silence, The Bellwether Syndicate, Hate Dept, China Crisis, and Night Club. 2023 is even more explosive with touring plans to include two dates with legendary gothic acts Clan of Xymox and The Bellwether Syndicate as a warm up before heading back out on the road in May co-headlining nine dates with NYC’S coldwave artists, The Clay People. “Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!
Joining us for round 2, please welcome MALEVOLENCE into the series. Much love to The Acacia Strain, and thank you to them for being a part of this lineage. Check out their new forthcoming record as well!
Working with friends and peers and avoiding the pitfalls of competitiveness has always been the most rewarding part of being in a band, so as always thank you for the support and opportunity to have this platform. See you all on the road soon!”
