“In this song, I call upon a Harpy to please carry me away after I’ve died a thousand little deaths. I lure it with my carrion heart—after all, Harpies are known as human vultures. If not, I fear I might be stuck in the same place, slowly left eroding. I need to die one last time to finally be laid to rest. This song, ‘Harpy,’ inspired the album title.”

War Curse Unleashes “Confession” Album with “Miracle Broker” Video

Ohio thrashers, War Curse, are set to release their third full-length album, “Confession,” via Blacklight Media on October 20th. The band, known for their thrash-oriented metallic attack, has built a dedicated fan base over the years.

“Confession” marks a new chapter for War Curse. The album showcases their evolution as musicians, focusing on songwriting, groove, dynamics, and melody, while retaining their signature brutal style. The first single, “Miracle Broker,” combines bludgeoning death metal with unconventional riffing, reminiscent of legendary experimentalists like Cynic, Atheist, and Gorguts.

Guitarist Justin Roth explains, “We experimented with new sounds, old sounds, took in new influences, old influences, and let the songs come together as organically as possible. If I lose my thrash card for it, oh well, I’ll hand in my battle vest.”

The pandemic disrupted their extensive touring plans in 2020, pushing the band to channel their energy into creating this album. It took a year to write and record, with each song meticulously crafted. The result is an album that stands as a cohesive musical journey.

“Confession” features the vocal contributions of Blaine Gordon, who brings a newfound confidence and melodic direction to the band’s sound. The album includes a cover of Grip Inc.’s “Rusty Nail” as a tribute to their former bassist, Jason Vie Brooks.

War Curse has released the first single, “Miracle Broker,” along with an accompanying video. The song takes aim at corrupt religious figureheads who manipulate their followers through brainwashing campaigns.

Metal Blade Museum to Open Its Doors to Fans on Saturday, August 19!

Metal Blade Records Museum, located in Las Vegas, NV, is ready to welcome fans once again. Brian Slagel is opening up the museum doors on Saturday, August 19, and it will be accessible every Saturday from thereon.

On the opening day, Saturday, August 19, Lizzy Borden himself will be present to take a stroll through the museum.

The operating hours are from 12 pm to 5 pm PT, and tickets are available [here](link to tickets).

Ticket holders will receive the museum address after purchase.

CYHRA Drops Intense Third Single ‘IF I’ and Dazzling Visualizer Video, Set to Dominate the Melodic Metal Scene

CYHRA, the melodic metal powerhouse featuring vocalist Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE), guitarists Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT/ex-IN FLAMES) and Euge Valovirta (ex-SHINING), has unveiled their highly anticipated third single, “IF I,” from their upcoming album “The Vertigo Trigger.” With its amalgamation of tuneful heaviness, ear-worm riffs, and a striking chorus, the track pays homage to the renowned Gothenburg metal scene, embodying everything that makes CYHRA’s music truly exceptional.

Vocalist Jake E describes the inspiration behind “IF I” and the video’s concept: “‘IF I’ is a song that embodies the influences we all grew up with from the Gothenburg metal scene. It boasts great melodies with a chorus that invites listeners to sing along. The video, directed by ourselves, features footage captured during our electrifying 9-show tour in Japan earlier this year.”

Drummer Alex Landenburg adds, “It’s probably our heaviest track to date, and I just can’t get enough of that riff! Pure Gothenburg metal at its finest!”

Guitarist Euge Valovirta shares the story behind the creation of the song: “I initially wrote the song for one of my YouTube videos, and the response was overwhelming. People were asking where they could purchase it. I sent it to Jake, and he instantly fell in love with it. He made some tweaks to the verse and chorus, giving it that distinct CYHRA touch. The result is fantastic—a melodic metal song reminiscent of the old school Gothenburg style. The title is a playful nod to a certain band that served as one of the song’s inspirations. The track kicks off with an amazing drum fill by Alex, and from there, it’s a wild ride. Hell yeah!”

Marcus Sunesson comments, “‘IF I’ is one of the faster, up-tempo songs on our new album. It’s Cyhra’s way of paying homage to the Gothenburg scene, combining glorious melodies and riffs. It’s a real banger and a blast to play!”

Jesper Strömblad shares his excitement about the track, saying, “This tune is the fastest track we’ve ever written. It’s so much fun to play, and we can’t wait to share it with you on stage. See you in the pit!”
