CRYPTOPSY Unveils Vile New Single/Video “Flayed The Swine” New Album, “As Gomorrah Burns,” Set for Release on Sept 8th

Canadian extreme-metal pioneers CRYPTOPSY have unveiled their depraved and merciless new single, “Flayed The Swine,” today! This track is part of the band’s first full-length album in over a decade, titled “As Gomorrah Burns,” scheduled for release on September 8th via Nuclear Blast Records. The latest single, “Flayed The Swine,” is both accessible and face-melting, taking listeners on a dark and demented journey into madness. Accompanying the track is a gruesome and blood-soaked video that is sure to haunt viewers’ nightmares.

Vocalist Matt McGachy comments on the new single:

“‘Flayed the Swine’ is one of the catchiest Cryptopsy songs I have ever written. It is brutal, filled with massive groove sections and extremely vulgar. Lyrically, it concentrates on a mental breakdown, an utter loss of control. We all have dark intentions, but we rarely act upon them. The protagonist by the end of the track most certainly wishes they hadn’t.”

The album “As Gomorrah Burns” underscores the ferocity of fan-favorite releases like “None So Vile” (1996) and the technical precision of “And Then You’ll Beg” (2000) while incorporating a sinister and strikingly dark vibe.

Conceptually, “As Gomorrah Burns” juxtaposes the story of Sodom and Gomorrah from the Bible with the modern-day Internet, exploring its dual nature as both a birthplace of invention and a cesspool of exploitation. Cryptopsy commissioned Italian artist Paolo Girardi to create the cover art, resulting in a stunning visual representation of the album’s themes.

With “As Gomorrah Burns,” Cryptopsy unleashes a new chapter of their death metal legacy, combining brutality and thoughtfulness. This album, featuring tracks like “In Abeyance,” “Flayed the Swine,” and “Lascivious Undivine,” delves into the depths of extremity, piercing mundanity thoroughly and relentlessly.

CRYPTOPSY, formed in 1992, have released eight full-length albums to date. MAIDENHEAD, a Massachusetts-based extreme metal force, draws potent inspiration from the thunderous realms of 80’s thrash and death metal. The seeds of the band were sown in 2013 by the visionary guitarist and primary songwriter, Zack Roberts. The band’s lineup has evolved through time, with significant members joining the ranks to mold the sonic identity of MAIDENHEAD. Drummer Andre Forero became an integral part in 2017, injecting a new layer of rhythm and intensity. Vocalist Amanda Scotto’s arrival in 2022, just before the recording sessions for the album, brought an entrancing vocal dimension to the band’s intense soundscapes. Guitarist Sean Hart, initially a collaborator in the producer/sound engineer role, was eventually drawn deeper into the musical fray, contributing both session guitar and bass work for the album. His involvement didn’t stop there; he cemented his position as a lead guitarist, a testament to the band’s welcoming and creative atmosphere. Bassist Alex Scofield came on board as a live musician in 2023, although not a permanent member of the ensemble.

SPECIES, hailing from Warsaw, Poland, comprises a trio of technical thrash metal enthusiasts. Formed in October 2018, the band swiftly recorded their debut EP, “The Monument of Envy,” self-releasing it on May 31st, 2019. That very day marked their inaugural live performance in their hometown. Drawing inspiration from legendary thrash acts like CORONER, TOXIK, and XENTRIX, as well as progressive rock icons such as KING CRIMSON, RUSH, and YES, SPECIES began crafting material for their debut LP while captivating audiences in Poland.

In 2021, the band entered Warsaw’s Sunstorm Studio to record their first full-length album, “To Find Deliverance.” This compelling record, an ode to their musical influences, was released on CD on August 26th, 2022, through Awakening Records. And now, thanks to Ossuary Records, a long-awaited LP version is set to hit the shelves this year.

Belgian heavymetallers SHOCKER Unveil Debut Album Title and Artwork

The inception of SHOCKER dates back to 2018, with the seeds of the idea planted long before in the minds of Sammy and Koen. However, due to various challenges and obligations in their daily lives, the concept was put on hold.

Drawing from diverse musical backgrounds, SHOCKER embarked on a quest to discover common ground, and it was in this shared space that their distinctive sound began to take shape.

Unfettered by genre boundaries, SHOCKER thrives on mixing genres and styles, exploring the vast expanse of possibilities that lies ahead.

Amidst the waves of the pandemic, SHOCKER found a fortunate window to enter the studio. The debut EP was meticulously crafted at closed sessions recording studio, with Kristof Maes at the controls. Upon its release in March 2021, the EP garnered a slew of promising reviews.

From that creative fire, emerged new compositions, embracing a weightier and darker tone. It is with pride that SHOCKER announces their full album, titled “Fractured Visions Of The Mind,” accompanied by the revelation of its cover art.

The album’s recording and mixing took place at Shellshock Studios under the guidance of Pieter Nyckees, and its mastering was deftly handled by Frederik Dejongh at Jerboa Mastering.

Last month, we had the incredible opportunity to perform in the majestic Alps for the first time at the warm and hospitable Raut Oak Fest. The beauty and atmosphere of the area left us in awe. Another memorable stop was the Hradby Samoty festival in Slovakia, where the music and vibe perfectly aligned with our tastes, and the enthusiastic crowd made it an unforgettable experience. We also had the pleasure of playing at KOHI in Karslruhe, Germany, where despite the scorching temperatures, fans from all over Germany, France, and the UK came to see our show, and we were met with heartwarming hospitality.

Rediscovering Creativity and Direction: Faderhead’s Musical Journey

Despite the un-summer-ish weather in Hamburg, Faderhead is breaking out of their music-making vacation to find new inspiration and energy. The break was much needed, as Faderhead had hit a creative wall, questioning the future of making music under the Faderhead name. But with a new perspective and some energy restored, Faderhead is ready to embark on a fresh musical journey.

In the past, Faderhead’s music was born spontaneously, resulting in unique albums with a mix of random styles and songs created throughout the year. However, a shift occurred in 2017 when Faderhead aimed to infuse more depth into the music, enhancing live shows and refining performances. This pursuit of perfection brought structure and rehearsal into the process, reducing spontaneity but yielding better results.

When the pandemic struck, Faderhead seized the opportunity to promote extensively on social media and release new music. However, after continuous efforts, the creative gas tank is now empty, leaving Faderhead uncertain about the future path.

On one hand, continuing as Faderhead may feel repetitive, and on the other, venturing into side projects requires additional effort and resources. Despite the uncertainty, Faderhead decided to explore new avenues, acquiring new skills like piano playing and honing singing abilities.

While the future direction remains unclear, Faderhead’s determination to stay fresh involves planning breaks and periods of skill development. As a result, Faderhead will embark on “30 Beats in 30 Days,” creating a beat every day in August to generate ideas and encourage creativity.

In the spirit of spontaneity, Faderhead also designed new shirts inspired by fans at the recent Amphi Festival. The shirts feature lyrics from “Destroy Improve Rebuild” and are available in various designs in Faderhead’s online store.

As the journey unfolds, Faderhead hopes to find renewed passion for music-making and welcomes input from fans about future directions. So stay tuned, follow the “30 for 30,” journey, and witness Faderhead’s creative evolution!

HATE5SIX Unleashes KHEMMIS & CONJURER’s “Deceiver North America MMXXIII Tour” Sets in Full Glory

In April 2023, the doom heavy metal group KHEMMIS from Colorado embarked on their ‘Deceiver North America MMXXIII Tour,’ joining forces with UK sludge/post-metal heavyweights and labelmates CONJURER, along with Canadian atmospheric grinders Wake.

Videographer/archivist Sunny Singh of Hate5six captured the May 6th performances at Underground Arts in Philadelphia, and now fans can witness the intense live energy on the Hate5Six YouTube Channel.

KHEMMIS treated fans to the two-song EP “Where The Cold Wind Blows” in 2023, available digitally and as a limited edition 7″. This release followed their critically-acclaimed 2021 album “Deceiver.” CONJURER, on the other hand, was on the road promoting their latest offering, “Pathos,” released in 2022.

Hate5Six has become a prominent platform in the hardcore scene, documenting bands big and small in all stages of their careers. The platform allows global fans to experience live music they may not be able to witness in person, making it a crucial space for bands and fans alike.

The sets filmed on May 6th were expertly captured and edited by Sunny Singh, while KHEMMIS’ front-of-house, Aaron Kelly, tracked and mixed their headlining set. Bryan Batiste mixed the performances of CONJURER, WAKE, and SUNBURSTER.

The birth of Shocker dates back to 2018, but the idea had been spinning through the minds of Sammy and Koen for a long time. Due to other challenges and obligations in their daily lives, the idea was postponed. With everyone having a different musical background, SHOCKER strives to find common ground, and that’s where the magic happens—the formation of the Shocker sound.

Mixing genres and styles without being confined to boundaries is one of the things they love, and the possibilities seem endless, giving them a wide path to explore.

Shocker was fortunate to hit the studio in between coronawaves and record their first EP at Closed Sessions Recording Studio with Kristof Maes at the helm. The EP was released in March 2021 and received many promising reviews.

New songs that appear to be heavier and darker were forged by that fire. Proudly, SHOCKER can announce that a full album is now done and set to be released in 2023.

The album was recorded and mixed at Shellshock Studios by Pieter Nyckees and mastered by Frederik Dejongh at Jerboa Mastering.

Polish progressive metallers FACTOR 8 have unveiled their latest single, “Antidote,” accompanied by a captivating music video. The band’s journey began in 2009 in Bydgoszcz, Poland, founded by Bartek Wojciechowski (vocals), Mariusz Lemański (guitar), and Łukasz Reksa (guitar). Blending melodic progressive rock with modern heavy metal, FACTOR 8’s music offers a unique and dynamic experience.

In 2016, the band released their debut album, “The Valkyries,” which received critical acclaim, catapulting them into the spotlight. As they promoted their debut material, FACTOR 8 had the honor of sharing the stage with renowned artists like Kat, Roman Kostrzewski, Turbo, Non Iron, Ira, Kaliber 44, Organek, Mrozu, Cugowscy, and more, solidifying their presence in the metal scene.

Debut Album “IMPII HORA” Out September 29 via Metal Blade Records

For over two decades, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been at the forefront of the Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, with eight full-length albums, millions of records sold, and massive stadium shows worldwide. Before leading Volbeat, Poulsen co-founded the death metal band Dominus, recording four fast, brutal albums in the mid-’90s. While working on songs for Volbeat’s 2021 album, “Servant Of The Mind,” Poulsen crafted a collection of death metal riffs and stored them on his phone. After completing the Volbeat record, he rekindled the fire of Armageddon and formed his new death metal band, ASINHELL. Their debut album, “Impii Hora” (Latin for Ungodly Hour), pays tribute to Poulsen’s favorite old-school groups, blending crushing riffs with powerful guitar hooks and shout-along refrains.

Poulsen expressed, “The song is kind of a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They’re the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we’re proud to wear our influences on our sleeve. The album was inspired by late ’80s and early ’90s old school death metal, and one of our brightest points of inspiration was the mighty Death, fronted by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There’s a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, the other being our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. ‘Let the metal flow,’ as Chuck would have said!”

Poulsen collaborated with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy), on crafting the death metal revival. The duo began jamming on riffs, setting up in Morten’s tiny garage, with no mics or P.A., just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up, reminiscent of their teenage days. They swiftly created new songs every time they met. To add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend and one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

“I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat,” Grewe says. “Then he called for real and said, ‘Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?’ Immediately, I was like, ‘Yes, of course!'”

Completing the trio, Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen stepped in to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. For lead guitar, Poulsen enlisted his friend and The Arcane Order axeman, Flemming C. Lund.

THY ART IS MURDER, the renowned Australian metal band, celebrates the 10-year anniversary of their iconic album “Hate” with the release of “Decade of Hate (Live in Melbourne 2023).” Recorded during their sold-out ‘Decade Of Hate’ performance at The Forum in Melbourne on January 14th, 2023, the digital version is available now. The physical versions, including CD and LP formats, will hit the shelves on November 17th.
