“The songs on The Loss follow the sequence of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’ famous stages of grief, but in my reading I found descriptions of very specific flavors of grief that often go unacknowledged—bonus grief, if you will. Anticipatory Grief is the pain of watching loss creep slowly toward you, knowing it’s coming, and feeling helpless in that long descent.”

Following their previous release, Complicated Grief, this new single continues the band’s emotional excavation through the psychological terrain of mourning and survival. Gritty, visceral, and unapologetically dark, “Anticipatory Grief” is more than a song—it’s a confrontation with pain.

Following 2024’s dreamy duet with Boy George, “Let The Flowers Grow,” and February’s shimmering synth-funk single “Swoon,” “The Artroom Wonder” takes fans even deeper into Murphy’s sonic labyrinth. 💀

“This is an echo from my 4th year at senior school. Daniel Ash [former Bauhaus bandmate] and I are listening to the mysterious 6th year cool intelligentsia that have gathered in the artroom… the music coming from it is intriguing. We discover the song is [David Bowie’s] ‘The Bewlay Brothers’… mystical and sensual, with the singer’s voice as seductive as anyone I’d ever heard.”

A Legacy of Excellence in Hard Rock and Progressive Metal

One of the defining elements of HEADLESS’ sound is the unmistakable voice of Göran Edman, the Swedish singer renowned for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Vinnie Vincent, Madison, Swedish Erotica, Glory, Karmakanic, and many more.

Formed in 1996 by cousins Walter (guitars) and Enrico Cianciusi (drums), the band initially released ‘Future to Past’ (1996) and ‘Inside You’ (1998) before disbanding in 2000. Walter later revived the project in 2011 with a fresh lineup, incorporating elements of progressive metal, melodic rock, and AOR-style choruses.

The band’s comeback album ‘Growing Apart’ (2013) featured Queensrÿche’s Scott Rockenfield on drums, followed by ‘Melt the Ice Away’ (2016) (featuring Jim Matheos of Fates Warning). Their 2021 release, ‘Square One’, marked their debut with M-Theory Audio and introduced bassist Martin Helmantel (Elegy), further strengthening their sound.

HEADLESS has shared the stage with Geoff Tate, Fates Warning, Queensrÿche, Tygers of Pan Tang, Angra, Skid Row, Bonfire, D.A.D., Candlemass, The Dead Daisies, and more.

Guitarist Walter Cianciusi is currently on tour with David Ellefson and has previously toured with Geoff Tate, even appearing on his ‘Sweet Oblivion’ album.
