Their debut album, titled “Impii Hora” (meaning Ungodly Hour in Latin), pays homage to Poulsen’s favorite old-school groups. Poulsen expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re very excited to share the first taste of Asinhell with ‘Fall Of The Loyal Warrior.’ The song is a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They are the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we proudly embrace their influence. The album draws inspiration from late ’80s and early ’90s old-school death metal, with one of our brightest points of inspiration being the mighty Death, led by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There’s a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, along with our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So, to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. ‘Let the metal flow,’ as Chuck would have said!”

While Poulsen is known for his roles in Volbeat and Dominus, he sought a different frontman for Asinhell. In March 2022, he reached out to his old friend, Marc Grewe, former vocalist of Morgoth and current member of Insidious Disease, inviting him to join the band. Grewe gladly accepted, stating, “I had known Michael for quite a long time, and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project someday. I didn’t take it too seriously at first because he was so busy with Volbeat. But then he called for real and said, ‘Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?’ Immediately, I said, ‘Yes, of course!'”

After considering several accomplished drummers, Poulsen approached Morten Toft Hansen from the Danish group Raunchy.
Not only does Morten possess incredible drumming skills, but he and Poulsen’s six-year-old daughters are also close friends, and Morten’s place is just a short 10-minute drive away.
The experienced musicians began practicing together and managed to complete a full song almost every time they got together. When it was time to write the vocals, Grewe was in Germany, so Poulsen sent him recordings from their rehearsals to kick-start the process. Drawing from their years of experience and renewed passion for destruction, Poulsen and Toft Hansen captured a fiery storm in a bottle.

Within just a year, Asinhell’s concept transformed into the creation of their power-packed full-length album, “Impii Hora.” Poulsen sought Volbeat’s management to help find a suitable label for Asinhell, and he was thrilled when they mentioned that Metal Blade Records’ founder, Brian Slagel, would be interested in the band. Once Slagel heard “Impii Hora,” he made Asinhell a top priority.

“It’s such a dream come true for me to be on fucking Metal Blade Records. When they said they wanted to put out the album, I felt like I was 17 years old again. I couldn’t believe it – making a deal with Metal Blade! How cool is that? It’s like finally realizing the record deal I had dreamed of as a teenager.” – Michael Poulsen

Stellar Circuits, the breakout progressive-metal band, is set to hit the road for a fall US tour, bringing their mesmerizing sound to audiences nationwide. As part of this significant development, TESTAMENT has also signed an exclusive three-album deal with Nuclear Blast. The official signing ceremony took place ahead of the band’s fiery performance at Hellfest over the weekend.

Fans of TESTAMENT can now rejoice as they will soon have access to the band’s iconic albums, including the revered classics “The Legacy” and “The New Order,” on their preferred digital streaming platforms. Floridian death metal legends, MASSACRE, have released a surprise live album titled “Submergence: Live Beyond 2019” today, digitally available through Nuclear Blast Records. The lineup features Kam Lee on vocals, Rick Rozz on guitar, Mike Borders on bass, and Mike Mazonetto on drums. The upcoming album “Kingdom Undone,” will be released on May 26th by Nuclear Blast Records.

The album was recorded from August to December 2021, engineered by the band and Mark Lewis, and the artwork was created by Travis Smith. “Kingdom Undone” will be available in various formats, including CD, vinyl, and T-shirt bundles.

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the 6-song mini album The Aggression Sessions featuring THY ART IS MURDER, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and MALEVOLENCE which will be available digitally on April 7th and on CD + Vinyl on July 21st, 2023 via Nuclear Blast.

Today, THY ART IS MURDER releases the second single from the EP entitled, “Until There Is No Longer”.


The Aggression Sessions is the follow-up to 2016’s The Depression Sessions and follows the same 6-song mini album where each band offers an original single and a cover song. For this session, THY ART IS MURDER is covering Cannibal Corpse and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY is covering At The Gates whereas MALEVOLENCE is handling a song by American singer Anastacia.

THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY make the following joint statement:

“Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!

Joining us for round 2, please welcome MALEVOLENCE into the series. Much love to The Acacia Strain, and thank you to them for being a part of this lineage. Check out their new forthcoming record as well!
