“Reflections in the Water channels the power experienced through a moment of stillness in nature.” Adding that in the video, "Erik Gustafson Cinematography perfectly captures the untamed wonder of the Pacific Northwest that drives the art of Kayas."

Commenting on their forthcoming full-length, the band shares:
“We crafted this album with the intent of sending listeners on a journey that will have their hearts soaring over ancient forests and still valleys, leaving them exhilarated when they reach their final destination.”

Capturing the essence of their sound, By the Moon and the Stars marks the eagerly anticipated full-length debut of Kayas. The record incorporates elements drawn from the full spectrum of metal that imbues triumphant power through melodic movement interwoven with crushing harsh vocals and thunderous basslines. Listeners are taken on a journey through themes of nature, human existence, and fantasy, delivered with compelling melodies and lucid riffs that will make their hearts soar over ancient forests and still valleys.

On the song and the opportunity to work on a Front Line Assembly track, Hamilton shares: "I couldn’t have been more than 13 when I got “Gashed Senses and Crossfire” and “Millenium” in the mail from Columbia house at the dawn of my interest in more abrasive and transgressive music. FLA were certainly one of more formative outfits in those two departments. The prospect of tearing FLA’s components apart and re-ensembling them with impunity was unquestionably daunting, but I never lost sight of how much of a full-circle opportunity it was, and I’m honored that this mix got the green light from Bill.

As will be immediately evident, I kind of lost my mind and went scorched earth on this poor song, so I release it with an earned degree of sadness for anyone who can’t stand the way I’ve vandalized it. My Condolences."

On the new single, the band comments:
"This song is dedicated to our hometown. Siberian life, which was very different. About what I saw from the window of my apartment in Novosibirsk, what surrounded me, what I felt when I lived there. ‘We’re just porcelain birds in nests and concrete slabs.’"

Guitarist Adam Zaars comments on the new single and video release: “Saturn Coming Down is a song that creeps up on you and that hopefully gets thoroughly under your skin. It’s a taste of the new musical areas we’ve charted that’s taken us to places we’ve never ventured into before. An ode to a very old titan who constantly seems to be lurking behind our backs.“

“As many of you will know we have always striven to push our own musical boundaries and to let the music change and grow with us, and vice versa, and to carve out our own niche in metal in general and in our own musical landscape in particular. Saturn Coming Down is the next stage in that ongoing process. It’s a song about Saturn and our various interpretations and imaginings of him throughout the millennia. Helping us with visualizing this we had the pleasure of working with Brendan McGowan who really outdid himself with this video. We also had help from our friend Damón Zurawski who shot us here in Sweden. We couldn’t be happier with the result! Death is the way of the world!“

The group has been steadily building a buzz since meeting on dating app Hinge. The San Francisco Gate praised chokecherry’s "blend of white-hot shoegaze," calling it "the modern sound of the California sun vaporizing the San Francisco fog," all the while accurately predicting that chokecherry are on the verge of blowing up.

Today, the band shares a new single. "Afterglow" is both an air-swept and grunge-soaked anthem flecked with snotty dissonance, showcasing just how special the band is. "Afterglow" was carefully selected as the first listen from chokecherry’s forthcoming EP and the song is a masterclass in emotive songwriting ― and is the instantly relatable result of a painful breakup.

The vintage vibes and dreamy soundscape suits this group of creatives so well, which is further championed by the song’s magical music video directed by Breanna Lynn. Overall, the song is a journey in self-reflection, love lost, letting go, and moving forward. It also hints at the heavier influences that the band incorporates in the upcoming EP, the details of which will be revealed in due course.

The song was penned about Mike’s personal and ongoing relationship with religion, and it manifested as one of his heaviest tracks to date. The track arrives in tandem with a fiery new music video, where Mike’s past experience with religion truly is his cross to bear.

“The next single is the heaviest and most intense track I’ve ever produced/written. I don’t normally preface my work but this song specifically covers my personal experiences & relationship with religion. ‘Glittery hauntology’ – pysk for MOOF Magazine In the first Winter of lockdown, dark electropop producer VASCHA began the creation of ‘VISIONS OF HEREAFTER’, an ambitious project with each 11 tracks referencing a different painting or panel by 14th century surrealist artist Hieronymous Bosch.Whilst VASCHA has released several experimental EP’s here and there, this is their first wholly realised full-length – a mixture of heavy thumpers, sensual ballads and mid-tempo strops, subverting medieval religious themes into a contemporary club sound through the lense of the modern-day pop diva. Along with a visual world created by Bristol photographer An Nguyen, this album contains exquisitely placed vocal features from powerhouses Diana starshine, SISSY MISFIT, I Am Fya and, newcomer to the music scene, Maltese fashion designer il-Bambolina.

Stray View’s Dave Escamilla shares of the track:
“Escape” was actually the first song that Brandon and I had executed together. I believe it was the first song he had shown me when we first met and I wrote/recorded the vocals in about an hour. After that, we realized that we had something special. Not only did we realize that we had the potential for a lot more as a project, but the song itself, felt special in the sense that a new identity was being created and it represented both of us so well. The song is about feeling conflicted. Ultimately, being trapped in a situation that progressively got worse after I had dedicated so much of myself to it and saw a future in it. The lyrics came to me almost immediately because the topic had weighed heavy on me for so long. And Brandon provided the perfect outlet for those words. So it’s safe to say that this song is uniquely important to us because it is what initially paved the way for Stray View to come to life.

Sorry Mom is anything but apologetic as they tear into a new chapter and make waves with a brand new track. “But I’m a Quarterback” is the ultimate anthem for anyone who has ever experienced an on-again, off-again relationship. The track breeds all the elements of a toxic relationship, with vocalist Juno Moreno vacillating between lyrics like “I still love you” and “you make me wish that I was dead.” Ultimately, the song reeks of summer nostalgia and will have you blaring it full volume with the windows down.

I was thinking a lot about sports when I wrote this song. This year I joined a softball league and we just won our first game. We have lost all the rest though. I hope the song is good and people like to listen to it. – Juno

‘love u anyway is the first explicit love song i’ve ever done. i tried to draw on my experience of how i felt in relationships that have huge ups and massive lows – u get addicted to the cycles together but ultimately you hold onto the idea that you will love each other through it all… spoiler alert it did not last forever for me but the song’s message is still cute as hell so the lyrics STAY!!!

About the new song, the rock artist says, "This song is about the UNDERDOG, the lightweight in the fight…I wanted to explore the concept of combining boxing and love in the same song. The idea of not giving up in a fight is equivalent to not throwing in the towel in a relationship or a goal you really want to achieve in life. So I just took that and ran with it on lightweight."

He continues, "‘lightweight’ is one of those songs where I took some of my real life experiences (what happened that morning) into the studio. It means a lot because it has such a beautiful message to me. The bridge goes, ‘If i take two steps in and you do the same, we might just be alright we might we might.’ I stand firm on that line. That’s the main thing I would want anyone to hear and REALLY feel."

On the new single, Blush comments: "False Consciousness started off as an instrumental demo and I was really hyped when Marc Heal approached me about doing lyrics and vocals. His vocals and lyrics really took the track to another level and the record would not be the same without him."

On joining the Artoffact Records roster, Blush remarks:
"I’ve been following Artoffact for a while and am excited to be part of the family considering they release some of my favorite artists around (Front Line Assembly, cEvin Key, etc). Artoffact were really good and receptive to my sound and thats what I care about the most."

“It is a song about losing your sense of self in all kinds of misery and doubt,” says Mikael Stanne (vocals) about the lyrics of the song while Santeri Kallio (keyboards) sheds light on the music: “I like to think that people feel the melody and the vibe with this one. It’s taking me back to a gothic disco in Düsseldorf in ’96. There is a lot of smoke, a lot of lights, good melodies, a nice and steady beat.” Markus Vanhala (guitar) further elaborates: “After the first single it shows a different side of goth. As the EP progresses, the intensity doesn’t waver. "GUNSHINE" beams a harsh spotlight on America’s not-so-secret shame, with MOLLY LEACH’s haunting vocals hitting you right in the full metal jacket. "BAD TIMES ARE HERE TO STAY" is an industrial anthem that harkens back to the genre’s golden era, with a a gritty, bashing edge that nods to Bukowski and RevCo alike.

Closing out the EP is the dark and punishing “SHADE," featuring sultry vocals from the mysterious TYLER C, and ghostly soundscapes from the song’s OG guitarist DAVID JOHNSON. It’s the perfect, enigmatic close to a musical journey that provokes the grey matter while banging the skull.

SICK JOKES have crafted something truly special here for our 100th… a psychosonic masterpiece that demands to be heard, felt, and reckoned with. Caveat auditor.
