LIKE WHAT, hailing from the vibrant streets of New York City, presents an electrifying musical project that defies easy categorization. Their sonic landscape is a captivating collision of cinematic synth pop and haunting darkwave, forging a path that’s uniquely their own. Recently, LIKE WHAT unveiled their highly anticipated second album, “Unpunctuated,” a musical journey that showcases their artistic evolution.
“Unpunctuated” features a diverse collection of meticulously crafted original songs that delve deep into the realms of emotion and sound. Additionally, the album includes a pair of layered and moody instrumentals that serve as actual theme songs for upcoming horror movies, offering a glimpse into LIKE WHAT’s dynamic range and creative prowess.
Central to LIKE WHAT’s allure is their distinctive approach to music creation. The brainchild behind LIKE WHAT, Balazs Imre, conceived the project during the pandemic lockdowns, using the limitations of the moment as a catalyst for experimentation. Crafting their captivating soundscapes entirely on an iPad and a guitar, LIKE WHAT captures the essence and atmosphere of the dark 1980s. Their self-produced compositions are infused with haunting lyrics, drawing inspiration from horror and film noir, vividly painting sonic imagery that takes listeners on a transcendent journey through the world of movies and music.
In a musical landscape often defined by convention, LIKE WHAT stands out as a beacon of innovation. Their artistry resonates with echoes of the past while firmly embracing the future, creating an immersive experience that bridges time and space. Their ability to evoke the haunting nostalgia of the 1980s, combined with their own unique flair, sets them apart as true sonic pioneers.
Since their inception in 2020, LIKE WHAT has been making waves with a series of captivating singles and EPs, laying the groundwork for their latest release, “Unpunctuated.” This album marks a significant milestone in their musical journey, showcasing their growth, experimentation, and dedication to pushing boundaries.

Frontman Johan Hegg casts light on the mythological significance of “Heidrun”:
“Heidrun is an interesting mythological character, it’s a goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla eating the leaf of the big tree Lärad. The milk that she gives is the honey/mead that the warriors in Valhalla drink each night. The lyrics themselves are both about Vikings traveling the world but also metaphorically what it is to be a touring musician.”
“Heidrun” Digital Single Track List:
Heidrun (2023 Remix)
Heidrun (Live at Graspop, 2023)
Put Your Back into the Oar (Live at Hellfest, 2023)
