CYHRA Releases Third Album “The Vertigo Trigger” + New Music Video For “Ashlight” Out Now!

CYHRA Releases Third Album “The Vertigo Trigger”

New Music Video For “Ashlight” Out Now!

Four years after their last studio album “No Halos in Hell,” CYHRA proudly presents their new album “The Vertigo Trigger.” The Swedes’ third full-length has been released today, and it reflects exactly what the melodic metal band stands for: ear-splitting riffs, catchy choruses, and plenty of melodies that make the band truly stand out.

The band, based around singer Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and guitarists Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT/ex-IN FLAMES) Euge Valovirta (ex-SHINING), drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT), and guitarist Marcus Sunesson (ex-THE CROWN / ex-ENGLE), demonstrate that they haven’t slowed down. With “The Vertigo Trigger,” CYHRA has not only further developed their distinctive sound but also proven how diverse they are. The best example of this is the latest single “Ashlight,” which combines hard-hitting elements with a gentle attitude. And if that wasn’t enough, the Swedes also deliver a new music video for the latest single to celebrate the album release.

Watch the music video for “Ashlight” here: Ashlight Music Video

Vocalist Jake E comments:
“It feels amazing to FINALLY have new music to release again! We put a lot of effort into finding out what the future of Cyhra’s music was to be, and I must say I am overwhelmed with the result. Both with the album and also the songwriting! I think that we have made a fantastic follow-up to both of our first two albums, but also at the same time, we’ve managed to modernize the songwriting. I can assure you that no Cyhra fan will be disappointed!”

Drummer Alex Landenburg adds:
“To me, this is a perfect successor to our first two records. It has all the Cyhra trademarks, but it’s a bit more Rock’n’Roll, more raw, in the way we recorded it. And on top of that, Euge’s great mix and Jacob Hansen’s mastering are a wicked combination!”

Guitarist Euge Valovirta about the new song:
“This is the first album we produced by ourselves, and it turned out to be just like I heard it in my head before we even started to record it. We still wanted to have (long-time producer) Jacob Hansen’s input on it, so he did the mastering, and I did the mixing. I’m very proud of it. And us. Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.”

Marcus Sunesson adds:
“It’s the first of the three Cyhra albums that I played guitar on and also contributed to the songwriting. It was a fun and very creative process but also challenging since we wanted to break new ground to make the best Cyhra album possible. I am so happy and proud of this beast of an album! This time we took a deep breath and dove down to explore a slightly darker, more progressive, and modern side of ourselves. Yet still sounding like the Cyhra you all know and love. This album will definitely turn some heads. You will love it!”

Jesper Strömblad comments as well:
“It’s so great to have a new album around the corner. We have kept the essential Cyhra sound, but at the same time, upgraded and updated it a bit. I love what Euge has done to the mix, and I know you are not gonna be disappointed!”

Recorded in the summer/autumn of 2022, “The Vertigo Trigger” is the band’s darkest album to date. The album was entirely self-produced and mixed by guitarist Euge Valovirta, while the mastering was handled by long-term producer Jacob Hansen. This new album offers fans the classic CYHRA sound, full of the band’s trademarks but fresh and refined. The Swedes have modernized their songwriting, meaning that no CYHRA fan will be disappointed, making “The Vertigo Trigger” a more than worthy successor to their first two albums.

And although guitarist Jesper Strömblad isn’t a part of CYHRA’s live shows currently, he was deeply involved in the writing and recording process of the album. Therefore, the band can hardly wait for his return as soon as he is ready again.

“The Vertigo Trigger” tracklisting:

  1. Ready To Rumble

Asinhell Shares “Island of Dead Men”

FEATURING VOLBEAT’S MICHAEL POULSEN, MARC GREWE (INSIDIOUS DISEASE, EX-MORGOTH), + MORTEN TOFT HANSEN (RAUNCHY)

DEBUT ALBUM IMPII HORA OUT SEPTEMBER 29 VIA METAL BLADE RECORDS

WATCH + LISTEN

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid ’90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat’s 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for “Ungodly Hour”), is a tribute to Poulsen’s favorite old-school groups.

Pre-order Impii Hora released September 29 via Metal Blade here.

“‘Island of Dead Men’ was the second song I wrote for the album,” says Poulsen. “It’s one of the faster and more aggressive songs on the record, but with a groovy Death chorus and a solid middle piece that hails the mighty Autopsy. Enjoy… or don’t!”

Poulsen has rekindled the death metal fire that fueled his first band Dominus. He began jamming on riffs with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy). The two started playing in Morten’s tiny garage: no mics, no P.A. – just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up like they used when they were teenagers. Soon, the pair were completing a new song every time they got together. When it came time to add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend, who also happened to be one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

“I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat,” Grewe says. “Then he called for real and said, ‘Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?’ Immediately, I was like, ‘Yes, of course!'”

With Asinhell fully formed, the three convened with Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. When it was time to add lead guitar to the album, Michael looked no further than friend and The Arcane Order axeman Flemming C. Lund.

ASINHELL Unveils “Fall of the Loyal Warrior” VideoBAND FEATURES VOLBEAT’S MICHAEL POULSEN, MARC GREWE (INSIDIOUS DISEASE, EX-MORGOTH), + MORTEN TOFT HANSEN (RAUNCHY)

Debut Album “IMPII HORA” Out September 29 via Metal Blade Records

For over two decades, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been at the forefront of the Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, with eight full-length albums, millions of records sold, and massive stadium shows worldwide. Before leading Volbeat, Poulsen co-founded the death metal band Dominus, recording four fast, brutal albums in the mid-’90s. While working on songs for Volbeat’s 2021 album, “Servant Of The Mind,” Poulsen crafted a collection of death metal riffs and stored them on his phone. After completing the Volbeat record, he rekindled the fire of Armageddon and formed his new death metal band, ASINHELL. Their debut album, “Impii Hora” (Latin for Ungodly Hour), pays tribute to Poulsen’s favorite old-school groups, blending crushing riffs with powerful guitar hooks and shout-along refrains.

“Impii Hora” will be released on September 29 via Metal Blade. Pre-order it HERE

Today, the band shares the official video for “Fall of the Loyal Warrior,” celebrated by Consequence as a return to Poulsen’s roots!

Watch it here:

Poulsen expressed, “The song is kind of a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They’re the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we’re proud to wear our influences on our sleeve. The album was inspired by late ’80s and early ’90s old school death metal, and one of our brightest points of inspiration was the mighty Death, fronted by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There’s a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, the other being our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. ‘Let the metal flow,’ as Chuck would have said!”

Poulsen collaborated with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy), on crafting the death metal revival. The duo began jamming on riffs, setting up in Morten’s tiny garage, with no mics or P.A., just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up, reminiscent of their teenage days. They swiftly created new songs every time they met. To add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend and one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

Completing the trio, Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen stepped in to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. For lead guitar, Poulsen enlisted his friend and The Arcane Order axeman, Flemming C. Lund.

The album will be available in various formats:

  • Jewel case CD
  • 180g Black Vinyl (Europe excl.)
  • Crimson Red Marbled Vinyl (Europe excl.)
  • White Vinyl (Europe excl., ltd. 1000)
