As the festival season nears its end, the international powerhouse, BEAST IN BLACK, is gearing up for their upcoming series of live performances. This tour will traverse the United States and Canada, encompassing a total of 31 exhilarating shows.

The band has treated their fans to a mesmerizing music video for the track ‘To The Last Drop Of Blood’, extracted from their latest album, Dark Connection. In this rendition, the German nu-metal outfit puts their distinctive spin on the iconic SYSTEM OF A DOWN classic. The video captures the undeniable synergy and raw talent of each band member, promising an unforgettable concert experience. From riveting solos to breathtaking vocal deliveries, this live video showcases BEAST IN BLACK at the zenith of their musical excellence.

Directed by Damien Dausch from Psyrus Studio, the video was filmed during the band’s European tour, spanning from November 30 to December 5, 2022.

AMARANTHE Joins DRAGONFORCE’s North American Tour as Direct Support!

Swedish six-piece AMARANTHE recently electrified the Wacken main stage with a dazzling performance, where they unveiled their upcoming album, “The Catalyst.” Scheduled for release on February 23rd, 2024, via Nuclear Blast Records, “The Catalyst” announcement was met with excitement.

This fall, AMARANTHE embarks on a North American journey as the direct support for GRAMMY-nominated power metal legends, DRAGONFORCE. The 24-date tour commences on October 20th in Mesa, Arizona, and concludes on November 19th in Los Angeles. NANOWAR OF STEEL and EDGE OF PARADISE will open for each show. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 11.

AMARANTHE Unveils ‘The Catalyst’ Album at Wacken: A New Era of Modern Metal Emerges

This afternoon, the holy ground for heavy music, the sacred space for metal heads, saw the beginning of another glorious chapter for one of the brightest modern metal stars to date. Swedish six-piece AMARANTHE announced the release of their upcoming album The Catalyst live on stage after their bedazzling performance on Wacken’s main stage.

“So at last it is official! This has been a long time in the making, and more effort went into this album than any previous AMARANTHE record. You have already gotten a taste of what’s to come on Damnation Flame, but as the most varied and eclectic AMARANTHE album to date, expect the unexpected! We cover a lot of musical ground on ‘The Catalyst,’ but the core of what we are about creatively is completely intact. It will be immediately obvious that you are listening to AMARANTHE, as much as it will be immediately obvious that this is both a leap forward as well as a step up. The Catalyst will see the light of day on February 23rd, 2024, via Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be available digitally and in different physical formats including CD, Vinyl, and a 2CD Special Edition.

The Catalyst is the most conceptually coherent piece of work in AMARANTHE’s storied history. Dedicated to notions of transformation and revelation, it delves deeper than any previous album, as Olof Mörck explains.

“We’ve done these things before, but we’ve never been as theatrical as we have this time,” Mörck grins. “In fact, we all questioned whether we went too far this time, but I also figured that this band was always this way. Literally, the first seconds of our first video was a big explosion! But yes, The Catalyst is more theatrical than ever. We’ve never really been symphonic or orchestral before, but this time we just thought why not? Because we can! The key to this album is that we let go of the boundaries and decided to do something even more adventurous.”

The Catalyst represents the culmination of 15 years of hard work and the breathless pursuit of a wholly original musical vision. Change is inevitable. Victory is assured.

DÉTERRÉ means ‘Unearthed” in French. This is exactly what the latest release from DESPISED ICON is. The EP consists of 5 old-school songs dating back to 2004. It seemed fitting to remaster and re-release these early recordings to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the band, which took form in 2002.

DÉTERRÉ was recorded throughout 2004 by Yannick St-Amand at Wild studio for a few songs and drums at Studio Victor while guitars, bass, and vocals by J-F Dagenais at his home studio. The band produced the album, and mixing was a joint effort between Yannick St-Amand and Jean-François Dagenais. Alexandre Goulet created the artwork for the EP.

“Rot Eternal” was the second composition to emerge from the depths of Cognitive’s creative cauldron. During their pre-production recording, the band realized they had something truly extraordinary on their hands. The repetition of riffs, the earth-shattering slam in the middle, and the unexpected outro all flowed seamlessly, creating a unique and captivating experience. Accompanied by Dahmer Art’s artwork, which perfectly captures the song’s lyrical theme revolving around everyone’s favorite topic—zombies—the single is a thrilling stand-alone release. But that’s not all, as the band teases the arrival of their new album next year!

But that’s not the only news from Cognitive—these masters of mayhem are currently embarking on a month-long North American tour alongside Portugal’s Analepsy. The Quiescence Tour kicked off on July 7th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will continue until August 5th, concluding in Brooklyn, New York.

Cognitive’s journey began with the release of their EP and full-length album, which caught the attention of Unique Leader Records in 2016. Their album “Deformity” showcased the band’s unwavering dedication to their craft, intertwining their music with the dark legend of the Jersey Devil, a tale from their home state. This marked the beginning of Cognitive’s ascent in the death metal realm. With subsequent releases like “Matricide” in 2018, the band further honed their technical prowess, speed, and brutal songwriting, propelling them to new heights.

As touring became a way of life, Cognitive embarked on numerous treks alongside notable acts like Fit for an Autopsy, Rivers of Nihil, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Vulvodynia, and Lorna Shore. Their relentless pursuit of musical perfection also led them to grace the stage at Maryland Deathfest. Cognitive’s tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to progress have transformed them into a touring machine, constantly pushing the boundaries of their art.

With the release of their latest album, “Malevolent Thoughts of a Hastened Extinction,” in 2022, Cognitive showcases their growth and exploration of new musical territories. Displaying diversity and masterful songwriting, the band fearlessly delves into new concepts, further solidifying their status as pioneers in their genre.

The journey, which begins on September 29th in Minneapolis, Minnesota and closes on October 14th in Brooklyn, New York, includes a performance at the Blades Of Steel Festival in Madison, Wisconsin. Support will be provided by Vapor and Potential Threat.

In the mid-1980s, Denmark’s ARTILLERY established themselves as being at the cutting edge of the thrash movement. Four decades later, they continue to destroy. The band’s most recent studio offering – the aptly titled, X — was released in 2021 via Metal Blade Records. X was tracked in Medley Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark with producer Søren Andersen, who the band have worked with on every record since 2009’s When Death Comes. Wrote Blabbermouth upon its release, “Nearly 40 years after their story began, this band is still a unique and exhilarating proposition.” Distorted Sound noted, “This is crisp and accessible, there are no unintelligible vocals and they know how to write a beefed-up metal song. This should please the pit and the guys at the back who prefer to sing along in equal measure. If you like the faster side of metal you owe it to yourself to check this out.” Added Ghost Cult, “Bursting with razor-sharp riffs, frantic shredding, and more hooks than a fisherman’s tackle box, X is another outstanding example of classic Danish thrash.”

ABOUT INGESTED:
Ingested are the flagbearers of modern UK death metal. They have been churning out bilious anti-anthems for more than a decade-and-a-half, dropping a string of releases that have helped shape the genre. They return with Ashes Lie Still, their most dynamic, inventive, and daring release to date, holding nothing back. The band describes it as “a modern essential. It still has the core Ingested elements of groovy slamming riffs, quick drumming, and guttural vocals but there’s also atmosphere, ethereal moments, and some raw old school aggression.” Over the course of 10 tracks, Ingested hack, slash, and steamroll through everything in their path, and Ashes Lie Still easily stands as the highpoint of an already impressive career. Founded in 2006 in Manchester, England, Ingested have since toured extensively with Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, Carnifex, and Revocation, and have been seen on European festival stages including Summer Breeze Open Air. Slimmed down to a three-piece, the band feels it is in the best place it ever has been, enabling the members to work at the top of their game.

Ashes Lie Still was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson. It was co-produced by the band and previous collaborator Nico Beninato, with drummer Lyn Jeffs living close to Beninato’s studio in Mallorca and recording his drums there, while Sean Hynes recorded his guitars at home in the UK with the producer assisting remotely. Vocal tracking was interrupted by Jason Evans falling seriously ill when finally making it to Mallorca and was ultimately tracked back in Manchester. Bass was again supplied by Dominic Grimard (Ion Dissonance/The Last Felony).

Ingested succinctly encapsulate their existence, saying, “We’ve always been the underdogs, always fighting for scraps. Well, it’s time to get out of the fucking way, because now it’s our turn to eat at the table.”
