Unmasking the Enigma: A Journey from Shadows to Sonic Revolution

In the heart of the music scene, there exists a force beyond mere melody and rhythm.

Cultus Black, a name whispered in awe, transcends the ordinary confines of a band. They are a collective, a movement, where fans, collaborators, and artisans unite under a cloak of anonymity, allowing their art to resound with primal, unfiltered truth.

For the enigmatic figures behind Cultus Black, music was not merely a passion but a lifeline amidst the tumultuous currents of adolescence. In the shadows of societal misunderstanding, the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson became beacons of empowerment, guiding this solitary soul towards a destiny woven in sonic rebellion. It was in the electric fervor of Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot concerts that the flames of purpose were ignited, birthing a relentless desire to sculpt music that pierces the soul.

The naming of Cultus Black was not born of lofty deliberation but rather an instinctual resonance with the essence of their existence. Genre labels pale in comparison to the raw authenticity pulsating within their compositions, drawn from the crucible of personal triumphs and tribulations.

In the sanctum of creation, solitude becomes a sacred refuge, where ambient melodies and the whispered verses of poets serve as muses for the bard of Cultus Black. Yet, amidst the solitude, a revelation struck like lightning in the darkness of high school corridors, revealing the transformative power of music to elevate and unite.

Collaboration, a cornerstone of their creed, heralds a new era of artistic symbiosis, where egos dissolve in service to the greater symphony of creation. Despite dalliances with various projects, Cultus Black remains the lodestar guiding their journey through the tempest of creative expression.

Adversity, a crucible of resilience, forged an unshakable belief in the potency of their artistry, propelling them towards greater heights. Through the eyes of their fans, music becomes a vessel for personal metamorphosis, a testament to the indelible impact of their sonic alchemy.

Though mastery eludes their grasp, the echoes of NIN, Deftones, and Slipknot reverberate within their souls, guiding their hand in the creation of sonic tapestries. Yet, it is the ethereal specter of David Bowie that imbues their artistry with an ineffable allure, a beacon of boundless creativity.

With each lyric, Cultus Black invites listeners on a journey of introspection, weaving a tapestry of emotions that transcend the boundaries of comprehension. Despite the rigors of touring life, the communion with their audience remains an irreplaceable source of solace and fulfillment.

In the crucible of their success, Cultus Black remains steadfast in their commitment to uplift their community, offering guidance and support to burgeoning talents. With eyes set on conquest, their long-term ambition knows no bounds, as they prepare to unveil thrilling collaborations and embark on a transformative tour.

To all who seek enlightenment in the shadows of their soundscapes, Cultus Black beckons. Stay attuned to their cryptic communiques through their enigmatic website, Cultus Black, or embark on a digital odyssey through the labyrinth of cyberspace to uncover their clandestine identity.

"Visions Of Hereafter (II)"
Release date: 7.12.20204

‘Glittery hauntology’ – pysk for MOOF Magazine In the first Winter of lockdown, dark electropop producer VASCHA began the creation of ‘VISIONS OF HEREAFTER’, an ambitious project with each 11 tracks referencing a different painting or panel by 14th century surrealist artist Hieronymous Bosch.Whilst VASCHA has released several experimental EP’s here and there, this is their first wholly realised full-length – a mixture of heavy thumpers, sensual ballads and mid-tempo strops, subverting medieval religious themes into a contemporary club sound through the lense of the modern-day pop diva. Along with a visual world created by Bristol photographer An Nguyen, this album contains exquisitely placed vocal features from powerhouses Diana starshine, SISSY MISFIT, I Am Fya and, newcomer to the music scene, Maltese fashion designer il-Bambolina.

Self-Titled Debut Nears Release On Metal Blade Records

As the frontman of legendary Swedish maniacs Nifelheim, Hellbutcher stands among the most elite figures of the black metal underground, and with his eponymous new band, HELLBUTCHER, his frenzied mission continues conjuring sounds of pure blasphemy and absolute musical Armageddon. Nothing less than total metal devastation will do!

Following the end of Nifelheim, who played their final show in late 2022, Hellbutcher wasted no time in forging forward. Teaming up with old compadres in evil, guitarists Necrophiliac and Iron Beast, bassist Eld, and drummer Devastator (ex-Nifelheim), HELLBUTCHER quickly set about bringing their new vision to life. Together, they had quickly amassed enough material to record their raging, hellish, self-titled debut album, set for release on May 31st through Metal Blade Records.

Recording in various locations around Sweden, such as Devastator’s own Red And Black Hall Drum Studio and Iron Beast’s Chrome Studios, and producing and mastering everything themselves – "No need for an outside producer since we knew exactly how our band should sound" – it is a record that stands proud and unambiguous as a work or pure, metallic mayhem.

From the album’s opener, the crazed "The Sword Of Wrath," HELLBUTCHER‘s intent is loud and clear: Channeling the spirit of Venom, Bathory, Iron Maiden, Exciter, Motörhead, Mercyful Fate, and the aggressive spirit of true heavy metal. It’s an explosion of diabolic evil, performed relentlessly by true masters of the form.

Elaborates Hellbutcher of the band’s latest single, "The title ‘Hordes Of The Horned God’ was inspired by an old Dissection song where Jon [Nödtveidt] mentions ‘my god has horns.’ I crafted the song with an epic yet raw and thrashing feel. The intro riff recurs in various forms, shaping both the chorus and the end of the mid-section of the song. Additionally, our great guitarist, known as Iron Beast, delivers some fantastic guitar solos on this track."

Stream HELLBUTCHER‘s "Hordes Of The Horned God" at THIS LOCATION.

Watch the band’s previously released video for first single, "The Sword Of Wrath," HERE.

With an enviable musical pedigree and a killer album to their name, HELLBUTCHER are certain to scorch a mark onto the black metal scene. "I believe this band has the potential to surpass Nifelheim; we’ve accomplished more in a year than I did in the last decade with Nifelheim," Hellbutcher states. "The key difference lies in the fact that this band shares a common goal. I am now filled with tremendous inspiration, and I plan to create new songs, records, and gigs at a completely different pace than before."

Insisting in so many words that posers should die, and promising that their live shows "will be a neck-breaking experience," the underground is about to be hit with an outbreak of evil unlike anything it has seen for a long time. Time to turn the cross upside down: HELLBUTCHER is here, and they mean evil business.

Hellbutcher will be released on May 31st digitally and in the following physical formats and special editions:

Live Dates Announced

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome Oxnard, California crossover collective DEAD HEAT to its iconic roster!

Forged in 2016 in, DEAD HEAT is known for their high-energy live performances and aggressive sound that draws influence from various subgenres of thrash, punk, hardcore, and metal. DEAD HEAT‘s music is characterized by fast, thrashy riffs, driving rhythms, harmonious leads, and intense vocals that often veer into screamed or shouted terrain. Thematically, the band delves deep into social and political issues, as well as personal struggles and experiences.

In addition to crafting pulverizing music, the DEAD HEAT crew is notorious for their DIY approach to punk/metal culture and their involvement in the broader hardcore scene. The band members are regularly involved in booking shows and events in their local scene, as well as supporting various social and political causes.

Comments vocalist Christian Ramos of the band’s union with Metal Blade Records, "To be part of a label that has put out some of our favorite records and has had some of our favorite artists is without words an absolute honor!"

Adds rhythm guitarist Justin Ton, "We’re on the same label that birthed Slayer and put Metallica on the map. It’s an honor."

States Metal Blade’s Ryan Williams; US A&R, "DEAD HEAT fucking slays; it’s an honor to welcome them to the Metal Blade family."

Over the course of their eight-year existence, DEAD HEAT has released a split with New York heavyweights Mindforce, two full-length albums, and several EPs including their most recent EP, Endless Torment, issued in 2023 on Triple B Records and Tankcrimes to critical acclaim. Wrote Revolver of the five-track bruiser, "The Nardcore torchbearers have only gotten heavier and nastier in the last two years, and on this joint, the barreling double-bass kicks and sawtooth guitar tones make their crossover thrashiness hit harder than it ever has." Decibel concurred hailing songs that are "built for pit action: side-to-side riffs alongside driving bass, dive bombs, [and] fist-pumping vocal sections," while Noizze hailed, "one of the best thrash records of the Summer for sure."

DEAD HEAT has toured extensively, playing shows across the United States, Europe, and Japan. The band will play a one-off show supporting Bodycount later this month before joining Drain, Terror, Angel Dust, and End It for a short run of shows in June. In July, the band will bring their onstage bedlam to European stages. The latest stretch of live dates follow the band’s successful run supporting Municipal Waste, Ghoul, and Necrot on the inaugural Brainsqueeze Tour earlier this year. See all confirmed dates below.

For nearly two decades, HARM’S WAY has evolved from whispered underground favorites to their own globally adored force with an arsenal of songs that helped shape heavy music’s trajectory creating a roadmap for legions interested in "reinventing" themselves". HARM’S WAY has never stayed complacent and constantly morphed, shape-absorbing and reapplying influences in new and creative ways to create some of the most well-executed songs in hardcore, punk and metal.

And yet, considering the changeling that they and their previous efforts are, Common Suffering is easily the most musically diverse undertaking in their catalog. The album beams with incredibly memorable riffs, breakdowns, and impeccable songwriting. The title is a clear nod to the collective experiences of the past three years of chaos, misanthropy, paranoia, disorder, confusion, and anxiety, with the band exploring themes ranging from personal struggles with mental health, relationships, political upheaval, corruption, and political power.

The precision-guided cluster bombs contained within Common Suffering are just ten more reasons for HARM’S WAY fans to queue up to see one of the best and most vicious live shows on the planet. There, amongst the wide smiles, flailing arms and bodies pinballing off of the edges of the pit, is where the world will see just how singular and uncommon the new effort is.

Stray View
Escape
Hopeless Records
Stray View is steamrolling into a new chapter. The rising rockers are ready to command the scene with an enigmatic new single, Escape, and a new record deal with Hopeless Records. After rising to fame as part of Crown The Empire, vocalist Dave Escamilla is stepping out on his own in a big way with a project that is all his own. The new song is a testament to Escamilla’s unwavering talent, and is an important one as it paved the way for Stray View to come to life. The track premiered on Sirius XM Octane & Pandora to high praise and is now available to the masses.

Stray View’s Dave Escamilla shares of the track:
“Escape” was actually the first song that Brandon and I had executed together. I believe it was the first song he had shown me when we first met and I wrote/recorded the vocals in about an hour. After that, we realized that we had something special. Not only did we realize that we had the potential for a lot more as a project, but the song itself, felt special in the sense that a new identity was being created and it represented both of us so well. The song is about feeling conflicted. Ultimately, being trapped in a situation that progressively got worse after I had dedicated so much of myself to it and saw a future in it. The lyrics came to me almost immediately because the topic had weighed heavy on me for so long. And Brandon provided the perfect outlet for those words. So it’s safe to say that this song is uniquely important to us because it is what initially paved the way for Stray View to come to life.

BROOKLYN-BASED PUNK ROCKERS SORRY MOM SIGN TO HOPELESS RECORDS + UNVEIL NEW SINGLE: "BUT I’M A QUARTERBACK”

Sorry Mom is anything but apologetic as they tear into a new chapter and make waves with a brand new track. “But I’m a Quarterback” is the ultimate anthem for anyone who has ever experienced an on-again, off-again relationship. The track breeds all the elements of a toxic relationship, with vocalist Juno Moreno vacillating between lyrics like “I still love you” and “you make me wish that I was dead.” Ultimately, the song reeks of summer nostalgia and will have you blaring it full volume with the windows down.

Sorry Mom Shares of the track:
I was thinking a lot about sports when I wrote this song. This year I joined a softball league and we just won our first game. We have lost all the rest though. I hope the song is good and people like to listen to it. – Juno

Stand Atlantic
Love U Anyway
Hopeless Records
STAND ATLANTIC DROP ENDEARING NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO ‘LOVE U ANYWAY‘ AHEAD OF BRAND NEW ALBUM: ‘WAS HERE

Stand Atlantic have dropped an endearing new song + video in which the band’s camaraderie takes center stage. It’s no secret Bonnie, Miki, Potter, and Jonno have the kind of on-stage chemistry you can’t fake, and their unique, wildly silly dynamic is the pillar of their new video for “LOVE U ANYWAY.” The song, which Bonnie reveals is her first full-fledged love song, will melt hearts anywhere, and is a relatable anthem for friends, lovers, and family, alike. The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Was Here’ (Out August 23), which showcases the band’s most masterful songwriting to date. With a murderous album cover and an equally as killer 15 song tracklist, Stand Atlantic is ready to bulldoze their way to the top.

Stand Atlantic’s Bonnie Fraser shares of the track:
‘love u anyway is the first explicit love song i’ve ever done. i tried to draw on my experience of how i felt in relationships that have huge ups and massive lows – u get addicted to the cycles together but ultimately you hold onto the idea that you will love each other through it all… spoiler alert it did not last forever for me but the song’s message is still cute as hell so the lyrics STAY!!!

De’Wayne
Lightweight
Hopeless Records
DE’WAYNE, who earlier this year announced his signing to Fearless Records, has just dropped the new banger "lightweight." The song is about fighting the good fight and never giving up or giving in.

About the new song, the rock artist says, "This song is about the UNDERDOG, the lightweight in the fight…I wanted to explore the concept of combining boxing and love in the same song. The idea of not giving up in a fight is equivalent to not throwing in the towel in a relationship or a goal you really want to achieve in life. So I just took that and ran with it on lightweight."

He continues, "‘lightweight’ is one of those songs where I took some of my real life experiences (what happened that morning) into the studio. It means a lot because it has such a beautiful message to me. The bridge goes, ‘If i take two steps in and you do the same, we might just be alright we might we might.’ I stand firm on that line. That’s the main thing I would want anyone to hear and REALLY feel."

Today’s new BLUSH_RESPONSE (AKA Joey Blush) single comes hot off of heels the recently announced partnership with Artoffact Records and news that there’s a new album on the way! ‘False Consciousness’ marks the second new track since the signing was announced and is taken from the forthcoming album, ‘Sprawl’, which will see its global release on July 5th.

On the new single, Blush comments: "False Consciousness started off as an instrumental demo and I was really hyped when Marc Heal approached me about doing lyrics and vocals. His vocals and lyrics really took the track to another level and the record would not be the same without him."

On joining the Artoffact Records roster, Blush remarks:
"I’ve been following Artoffact for a while and am excited to be part of the family considering they release some of my favorite artists around (Front Line Assembly, cEvin Key, etc). Artoffact were really good and receptive to my sound and thats what I care about the most."

After summoning a “Violent Storm” in early April CEMETERY SKYLINE are shrouding you “In Darkness”.

It is a song about losing your sense of self in all kinds of misery and doubt,” says Mikael Stanne (vocals) about the lyrics of the song while Santeri Kallio (keyboards) sheds light on the music: “I like to think that people feel the melody and the vibe with this one. It’s taking me back to a gothic disco in Düsseldorf in ’96. There is a lot of smoke, a lot of lights, good melodies, a nice and steady beat.” Markus Vanhala (guitar) further elaborates: “After the first single it shows a different side of goth. Goths like to dance… in darkness. Dancing with themselves or with myself, like Billy Idol once said, who had a valid point.

SIX FEET UNDER‘s Killing For Revenge, their fiery fourteenth studio album, is out today on Metal Blade Records!

In celebration of the record’s release, today the band drops a lyric video for "When The Moon Goes Down In Blood," created by Reino Aedmäe who also produced visualizers for "Zodiac" and "Blood Of The Zombie" from SIX FEET UNDER‘s Nightmares Of The Decomposed offering.

Comments legendary frontman Chris Barnes of "When The Moon Goes Down In Blood," "I think all of the songs on the album deal with revenge in one way or another. That’s why the album’s called Killing For Revenge. Each song has that as a theme in it, whether it be man against man, or nature against man. There’s a macabre core theme and it’s more straightforward as far as lyrics go and the tone of the storyline really being a lot more horror, and generally speaking, about killing people. My mood is always really just diving into my own imagination and kind of a meditative state of concentrating and listening to the music and letting it lead me into a storyline."

Adds guitarist Jack Owen, "This was the last song written for the album. Chris suggested something ‘early 1990s.’ I created drum beats reminiscent of early Immolation or Suffocation, where the tempo was somewhere between a thrash beat and a blast beat. Back then we wrote guitar riffs that were simple diminished lines with tons of palm muting, just crunching along with the snare drum. The music was written pretty quickly and I sent it off to Chris and he replied. ‘I got this!’ Boy, did he! It turned out to be possibly the best song on the album. A brutal old-school vibe."

Watch SIX FEET UNDER‘s "When The Moon Goes Down In Blood" lyric video HERE.

Watch the band’s previously released lyric videos for "Know-Nothing Ingrate" HERE and "Ascension" HERE.

A gnarly beast of a record that’s not for the faint-hearted, Killing For Revenge dishes up nightmare-inducing imagery courtesy of Barnes via the vocalist’s trademark guttural vocals. Both the album title and darkly detailed red-hued album cover by artist Vince Locke are perfect containers for the brutality within.

SixFeetUnder-KillingForRevenge.jpg

Forged as a side project for Barnes during his final years with the band that he co-founded, Cannibal Corpse, SIX FEET UNDER became the frontman’s sole focus in 1995, coinciding with the release of their debut, Haunted. Only Barnes remains from SIX FEET UNDER‘s original incarnation, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The current lineup of Barnes, guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella make for a devastating unit.

Killing For Revenge marks the second album that Barnes and Owen have created together since reuniting for 2020’s Nightmares Of The Decomposed. Owen also produced the record. The chemistry between the five men is palpable. From the opening moments of "Know-Nothing Ingrate," which kicks off the vile proceedings, it’s immediately clear that SIX FEET UNDER focused their energies into something that’s as brutal, lyrically visceral, and musically dazzling as one would hope for from the ground-breaking Tampa-bred death metal lineup. As a special bonus, SIX FEET UNDER also recorded a cover of Nazareth‘s "Hair Of The Dog," which appears on all formats of Killing For Revenge with the exception of vinyl.

Killing For Revenge features a guest appearance by guitarist Jason Suecof on "Neanderthal" and was mixed and mastered by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The record will be released on CD and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following color variants:

"Now sounding more like a lethal and harmonious unit than they have for decades, they are plainly and undeniably back in peak, murderous form." — Blabbermouth

"In places the record sounds like early Cannibal Corpse, but with the broodingly aggressive ‘Hostility Against Mankind’ and the Obituary-like ‘Neanderthal’ there are also strong slow numbers again… a strong performance!" — Rock Hard Germany

"Slow or fast doesn’t matter with SIX FEET UNDER, what counts is heaviness, brutal riffing, and a massive build-up of pressure, interspersed with skillful solos, and Killing For Revenge has more than enough of all of this to offer." — Slam Germany

"SIX FEET UNDER has found their way back to their own strengths and instead of focusing on speed or groove, the latest offering shows all aspects of the death metal pioneers from Tampa, Florida." — Markus Heavy Music Blog

Industrial Invasion: Viral TikTok Hit Sparks Renewed Interest in Dark Sounds

The industrial music scene just got a jolt of electricity, and it came from an unexpected source – TikTok. A lesser-known industrial artist’s song has inexplicably gone viral on the platform, propelling the genre into the spotlight for a whole new generation. While some might dismiss this as a fleeting internet trend, this development holds significant potential for the future of industrial music.

The viral TikTok track marks a turning point. Younger audiences who might not have been exposed to industrial music before now have a gateway drug to a whole new world. This single song can act as a catalyst for a deeper exploration of the genre’s rich history and diverse sounds. New fans can delve into the work of established industrial pioneers like Throbbing Gristle and Ministry, or discover the vibrant scene of contemporary industrial artists pushing the boundaries of the genre.

However, navigating this newfound attention requires a delicate touch. The viral song might not encapsulate the entirety of industrial music’s sonic palette. There’s a risk of setting unrealistic expectations or reinforcing negative stereotypes about the genre being purely noisy and inaccessible. This can be countered by highlighting the artistic merit and creative diversity within industrial music. From the industrial metal aggression of Nine Inch Nails to the electronic experimentation of artists like Autechre, there’s a subgenre within industrial music for everyone with an adventurous sonic palate.

Ultimately, this viral moment presents an exciting opportunity. It’s a chance to introduce a new generation to the dark and captivating world of industrial music. By fostering a deeper appreciation for the genre’s rich tapestry, this TikTok phenomenon can spark a renewed passion for industrial music that thrives far beyond the fleeting nature of viral trends.

Let’s keep the conversation going!

  • What is the name of the viral song? Share your thoughts on how it represents (or doesn’t) the broader industrial sound.
  • Who are some established industrial artists you’d recommend to curious new fans?
  • What are your hopes for the impact of this viral moment on the future of industrial music?

Share your insights in the comments below and let’s explore the darker side of music together!

Goth Gets Glam: The Dark Resurrection of Industrial Fashion

Darkness is back in vogue. Goth and industrial aesthetics are experiencing a resurgence on runways and social media, captivating fashion enthusiasts with their dark romanticism and DIY spirit. But this isn’t just a simple nostalgia trip. This revival offers exciting possibilities for self-expression and a celebration of alternative styles, but also demands a critical eye.

Undoubtedly, a part of this trend is driven by nostalgia. However, today’s take on Goth and industrial fashion goes beyond merely reviving past trends. The focus has shifted towards a more nuanced “dark romanticism,” incorporating elements of elegance alongside the traditional grit.

Furthermore, the DIY spirit is a prominent aspect of this revival. Platforms like TikTok empower individuals to showcase their unique interpretations of these aesthetics, fostering a sense of creativity and self-expression. This accessibility is another key factor driving the trend’s popularity, making Goth and industrial styles more approachable for younger generations who might not have experienced them firsthand.

However, the mainstream’s embrace of these alternative styles also presents challenges. The fine line between appreciation and appropriation becomes crucial. It’s important to understand the history and cultural significance of Goth and industrial aesthetics to avoid a superficial adoption of their outward expressions.

Another potential pitfall lies in the ever-present fast fashion industry. The rise of these trends could be exploited by fast fashion brands, churning out mass-produced versions that lack the authenticity and often the sustainability of the original styles.

So, how can we ensure this revival is a positive development?

  • Support Independent Designers: Seek out independent designers and small businesses that champion these aesthetics with a focus on quality and ethical production.
  • Embrace the DIY Spirit: Channel your inner creativity! Upcycle existing clothing, explore thrifting, and personalize your outfits to make them truly your own.
  • Educate and Advocate: Promote understanding and appreciation of the rich history and cultural significance of Goth and industrial fashion.

Ultimately, the resurgence of Goth and industrial fashion is a testament to the enduring power of self-expression and the allure of alternative aesthetics. By fostering responsible consumption, celebrating creativity, and advocating for a deeper understanding of these styles, we can ensure this dark renaissance empowers and inspires.

Throbbing Gristle Reunion: A Cause for Industrial Celebration or Exploitation?

The air crackles with rumors – Throbbing Gristle, the godfathers of industrial music, might be reuniting. This news undoubtedly sends shivers down the spines of veteran Dark/Alt/Dance aficionados, but before we all succumb to a nostalgia-fueled frenzy, let’s dissect the potential impact of this event.

On the surface, a Throbbing Gristle reunion is a cause for celebration. Their music, a transgressive blend of noise and social commentary, shattered the boundaries of popular music and paved the way for the industrial scene we know today. For many, the chance to witness these pioneers live would be a pilgrimage, a connection to the very roots of their musical identity. Furthermore, a reunion could introduce Throbbing Gristle to a new generation, sparking a resurgence of interest in industrial music as a whole.

However, nostalgia can be a double-edged sword. The industrial landscape has drastically morphed since Throbbing Gristle’s reign. Their sound, while undeniably groundbreaking, might not resonate with fans accustomed to the genre’s modern iterations. Will a reunion simply be a cynical exercise in reliving past glories, or will it offer something fresh and relevant to the current scene?

The answer hinges heavily on the nature of the reunion itself. Are all original members on board? The absence of a key figure could dampen the experience for some. More importantly, what is the artistic motivation behind the reunion? Is it a genuine desire to explore new sonic territories, or a mere cash grab fueled by nostalgia?

As a passionate advocate for Dark/Alt/Dance culture , I believe reunions can be valuable if approached thoughtfully. A Throbbing Gristle reunion could reignite interest in industrial music’s history, fostering a deeper appreciation for its legacy. However, for this to be truly meaningful, the band must demonstrate a commitment to artistic evolution. They should use the reunion as an opportunity to engage with the contemporary industrial scene, perhaps collaborating with younger artists or incorporating modern production techniques.

Ultimately, the success of a Throbbing Gristle reunion hinges on its ability to bridge the gap between the past and present. It can be a catalyst for a vibrant dialogue within the industrial scene, one that honors its heritage while pushing its boundaries forward. Let’s hope the potential reunion lives up to the legacy it seeks to celebrate.

Southern California metalcore titans BLEEDING THROUGH have made their awaited return with a brand new single today, aptly titled "Our Brand Is Chaos." The track is a ruthless new track is their first taste of something the band is currently brewing behind studio doors.

Commenting on the single, lead vocalist Brandan Schieppati states:

About BLEEDING THROUGH:

Destined for great achievement ever since their formation in 1999, Bleeding Through’s career has been a lengthy and star-studded one, dedicated to delivering a devastating, yet melodic and entrancing, infusion of metal and hardcore to fans worldwide. But, above all else, the band has stayed true to themselves. A testament to their momentous impact on the genre, the quintet has influenced several generations of artists since their inception and will no doubt continue to inspire fans and artists for many years to come.

Having already triumphantly reclaimed the spotlight after their biggest collective hurdle – the 2014 hiatus which many anticipated would be the end of the band’s career as a cohesive unit – Orange County quintet, Brandan Schieppati (vocals), Derek Youngsma (drums), Marta Peterson (keyboards), Brian Leppke (guitar), and Ryan Wombacher (bass), clearly know what it takes for a successful resurgence.

With five Top 50 US charting records, 100 million catalog streams, over 400k physical album sales, and tours with Slipknot, Motionless In White, Lamb of God, and Unearth under their belts, there’s no arguing with the Bleeding Through’s methods and widespread appeal.

Music’s prodigal sons have returned to retake their throne with the release of their latest single ‘Our Brand is Chaos’, and Bleeding Through have no intention of crowning a successor just yet.

SICK JOKES "CULT OF IGNORANCE”
COP INTERNATIONAL’s 100th Digital Release

OAKLAND, CA, May 3, 2024: COP International are excited to announce our digital centennial with a bold, boundary-pushing release from the global electro-pop-metal collective SICK JOKES. The EP draws title and inspiration from Isaac Asimov’s timeless take on the pathologically false American notion that “democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” This is not just music, it’s a statement, and a sonic revolution—once again mixed and exec-produced by our own in-house wizard JOHN FRYER (4AD, NIN, DMODE…)

Says Sick Jokes vocalist/drummer SEAN HAEZEBROUCK, “Picture this: a fierce warrior goddess, riding a giant metal wasp, delivering a large order of protest anthems.” Haezebrouck, MICHAEL MADILL and ROBERT MCCARROLL, along with four powerful guest vocalists, have taken Sick Jokes to their apex predator phase here, with a six-chapter blast of social commentary wrapped in infectious grooves, dark humor and cover art that winks at Delacroix.

From the get-go, "CULT OF IGNORANCE" grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go as Los Angeles’s DEVON THOMPSON sets it all ablaze on "THE WORST IS YET TO COME.” Following in the number two position, ”DRUGS" features the Pinktator PLASMIC along with voiceover legend THOM KIKOT laying his dulcet baritone on the operative word before we move to Chapter 3: “COWARDS," which according to Haezebrouck is “a high-octane middle finger aimed straight at humanity’s failure to make amends for their very profitable enviromental catastrophe.”

As the EP progresses, the intensity doesn’t waver. "GUNSHINE" beams a harsh spotlight on America’s not-so-secret shame, with MOLLY LEACH’s haunting vocals hitting you right in the full metal jacket. "BAD TIMES ARE HERE TO STAY" is an industrial anthem that harkens back to the genre’s golden era, with a a gritty, bashing edge that nods to Bukowski and RevCo alike.

Closing out the EP is the dark and punishing “SHADE," featuring sultry vocals from the mysterious TYLER C, and ghostly soundscapes from the song’s OG guitarist DAVID JOHNSON. It’s the perfect, enigmatic close to a musical journey that provokes the grey matter while banging the skull.

SICK JOKES have crafted something truly special here for our 100th… a psychosonic masterpiece that demands to be heard, felt, and reckoned with. Caveat auditor.

About SMOKE AxD:

The genesis of Smoke AxD involves the combination of 2 of Hoya’s passions, heavy music and cannabis. Hoya had completed songs and lyrics just waiting to be brought to life. He then focused on what musicians he could get that shared his love of big riffs and big spliffs. Hoya had been wanting to do a band with his close friend and brother, Lord Ezec (Crown of Thornz, Skarhead) for years. No convincing was needed, Ezec was immediately on board. Next would come the addition to one of his regular smoking partners on the road over the years, guitarist, Sean Martin (Hatebreed, TwitchingTongues). On guest drums Riggs Ross (Hatebreed, Madball) and Dimi Douvas (Crown of Thonrz, Stillsuit). Hoya then contacted producer extraordinaire, Zeuss to help produce and record the project. With everything in place, the band got together to record the EP, Vaya Con Dios, which will be released on May 7, 2024.

SMASH ATOMS Debut New Single/Video "Into The Light"
6501ea85-74e6-8f57-8f11-2eee2f85272c.jpg
A few months back we introduced you to Sweden’s SMASH ATOMS, and their first single/video “Down.” Since #grungeisback has been a rallying cry and “Down” has been added to almost two dozen US commercial rock radio stations.

Eager to follow-up the relative success of their debut and build upon it SMASH ATOMS share “Into the Light” now on all streaming/download digital platforms, while the video can be viewed at HERE https://youtu.be/-UOqVeyd7h0

Smash Atoms are very excited to release the next single ‘Into the Light’ today,” responds Martin Söderqvist. “The song dives into the depths of mortality and travelling beyond this life to where ‘many have gone before but no-one has come back alive.’ ‘Into The Light’ mixes chromatic riffing with a melodic chorus, which together with Kenji Tsunami’s visual art, takes the listener on a special journey.

Both songs come from the band’s impending debut full-length, expected at the end of summer. Highly influenced by the ‘90s SMASH ATOMS intend to bring it all back in a new form. The quartet’s enjoyment and intention when creating their first album was to highlight a familiar yet captivating sound. Check out the music video for first single “Downhttps://youtu.be/flOb06uUA2w or stream/download the track at all digital platforms.

While the influences are obvious, there is something charming, nostalgic and infectiously endearing about the group’s material culminating in what will surface as a very strong album recorded at Crehate Studios (In Flames, Scorpions, Avatar) in Gothenburg, Sweden.

SMASH ATOMS’ story actually originates back to 2012 when they formed, releasing one smashing demo and playing a handful of magical shows before U.S.-born singer Glen Gilbert stepped out and the remaining trio changed their name to THE TORCH with Martin now also handling vocals. The Torch recorded two albums, gaining national Swedish radio play and touring all over places like Scandinavia, Germany and Italy. But two years ago, Glen (The Story Behind, Hide the Knives) and the guys reconnected and decided to revert back to their former incarnation and give SMASH ATOMS another chance and here we are. Check out “Into the Light” and “Down” and anticipate more captivating songs in the coming months.

Chiasm releases "Chasing Butterflies" EP feat Mixes by Stabbing Westward, Beborn Beton, and blackcarburning. After releasing her Album "Zone" Chiasm doubles down with their new exciting EP that features a fantastic collection of remixers. Think Electro – Pop meets Industrial!

"Chasing Butterflies" is actually the first song I wrote for the "Zone" album, so I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.. it embodies that essence of loneliness and uncertainty and self-expression and hope that can all be a general theme through my music. It feels right in place on the dance floor!!

I like having some variety of styles and additional tracks to make for a refreshing listen, and here we include an incredible mix of "Dead Trees" by Mark Hockings of blackcarburning, and a noise/industrial mix of "Moonshot" by local Detroit artist Steve Anthony of 8om!!

I’m so pleased to have heard from people that have been listening to my music for decades and still finding new Chiasm songs so meaningful to them! I’m excited to continue the journey:)

Thank you, I appreciate your support!

Take care:)

SUBGOTH (SET) – 4EVER (BADMAN Bandcamp exclusive)

AIorK4wxSMLiu9O9WcXMCUMw0IaONDPw4jplErhH2Gdg4IKkKpdP1ysWAQwCSLSHQC0jtAP_TLRwmkvme8mR

Greetings again FROM SubGoth! The new single BADMAN comes out in a week. The visualizer can be found here: BADMAN Visualizer . This is a bandcamp exclusive to the single titled "4EVER".

The song samples Yuna’s "Lullabies", detuning the vocal in the dissonance Witch House styles that goes into a sub-bass frenzy. I honestly have no clue what type of music I make lately but am beyond grateful to connect with others through it. Lunarfluxx and I just covered the classic edm track "Stereo Love" which will probably promo next month. I’m hoping to get the album out by late June.

Urban Heat
Seven Safe Places
Artoffact Records
Today, Urban Heat have released their latest single, in the form of an endearingly introspective track – ‘Seven Safe Places’. Known for their modern fusion of electronic and post-punk styles, the band rises to new heights with this song. Playfully melancholy, the single takes listeners through an array of emotions, sonically juxtaposing Jonathan Horstmann’s distinct vocals and deep lyrical content with spirited, danceable melodies.

On ‘Seven Safe Places’, Horstmann comments:
“The song is about uncertainty and loss, and how each day of the week we have another opportunity to find a fleeting safety. I imagined a pair of star-crossed lovers on the run, and each day they find a place to hide out that gets compromised and they find themselves looking for the next. Life is like that sometimes. We can’t take any of our safe places for granted because there’s no telling how long they will exist.”

A Pact Unholy
Metal Blade Records
A Pact Unholy” is the scathing new single from technical death metal architects, COGNITIVE. The track appears on the band’s Abhorrence full-length, set for release on May 17th on Metal Blade Records.

Once accurately championed by Kerrang Magazine for composing songs that land with “cartilage-crushing force,” Abhorrence carries on tradition with its a maniacal fusion of relentless riffs and thoughtful, devastating lyrics. A raging, draining, and ultimately fulfilling experience, Abhorrence finds the New Jersey powerhouse quintet at their brutal best.

Elaborates guitarist Rob Wharton on their latest single, “‘A Pact Unholy’ kicks off with blistering speeds, guitars are nonstop, and the drums add to the ferocity, all leading into a dissonant, blackened midsection, and a heavy riff exit, with fantasy lyrics speaking about bloodmagic, summoning, and resurrection.

200 Stab Wounds
Hands of Eternity
Metal Blade Records
Cleveland death metal legends-in-waiting 200 STAB WOUNDS have returned with Manual Manic Procedures, set for release on June 28th through Metal Blade Records.

A superlative sophomore effort that follows their tour de force debut, 2021’s Slave To The Scalpel, the new album Manual Manic Procedures is a brutal slab of old-school death metal with a contemporary edge. Not for the faint-hearted, the record may well be the album that puts classic gore-themed ferocity back into the metal community’s collective consciousness.

Slave To The Scalpel saw 200 STAB WOUNDS insinuate themselves into the minds of extreme metal fans, leading to praise from Pitchfork for their “unpretentious brilliance, pitch-black sense of humor” and an “aesthetic [that’s] built around a chugging, groovy riff that stomps down a path of destruction.” Manual Manic Procedures sees the band upping the ante both musically and lyrically.

Karen Dio
Sick Ride
Hopeless Records
“Signing to Hopeless Records means a lot to me. Not only because I have admired and respected them and their roster for many years, but because being recognised by them, as an independent artist from Brazil, has validated me and all my years of hard work. It’s a very special moment in my career and I can’t wait to see what the future holds." – Karen Dió

Karen Dió, the viral punk star who has been grabbing attention on the internet left and right, has signed to Hopeless Records. She simultaneously drops a set of singles, including a re-release of her fan-favorite track “Sick Ride,” which has caught the attention of Sum 41, Fred Durst, Kenny Hoopla, and more. Dió’s raucous, DIY punk anthems have commanded attention across seas all the way from her birthplace of Brazil, where she first laid the foundation for her bustling career. Now, Dió has found global appeal in her music, and is representing Brazilian rock music in a big way.

Karen Dió shares:
"Sick Ride is a raging riot-grrrl anthem of female empowerment! I want people to feel liberated, free and powerful when they listen to it! Use this song as a way to have fun when you’re having a bad day, when you want to party or even in the morning to get your head straight. The song was inspired by the gang vocals of songs like "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani with heavy guitars like L7. It’s short and kicks like a real good punk rock song!"

"Sick Ride, Sick Ride – it’s just stuck in your head, you can’t escape how fun it is – you want to hear more! We loved the music from day one. Meeting Karen was the big win – one of the nicest, kindest, and most talented artists with an aura of passion and excitement around her that is next level. It makes the music even more incredible. We are so excited to work with her!" – Eric Tobin, A&R | Hopeless Records

This venomous track was just the first taste of what the band has been working on and is currently Top 30 at Active Rock Radio. It has also tallied 2 million streams.

Today, they follow with the new single "Spiral (Justice)" and it’s another rager that will rip your head off and hand it back to you.

"’Spiral’ is about toxic people coming into your life and you try to make the best of the situation," the band says. "But their negativity and actions just keep dragging you down until there is a breaking point. This song was one of the heaviest that we had written… we knew we wanted to have a song with some jungle breakbeat vibes. And this song had the perfect layout for it."

PRAISE FOR PSYCHIC GRAVEYARD:
This guy’s solipsistic, overly literal, his mind orbiting another planet, the mix unevenly doubling his inner monologues: ‘What do I wear to your funeral / When we were together, I never wore clothes.’ Synth player Nathan Joyner, guitarist Paul Vieira, and drummer Charles Ovett all up the psychodrama by savage degrees, leading off with a grinding, foghorn dirge that eventually expands into a punishing industrial hailstorm.” – SPIN“‘Patently obnoxious,’ ‘willfully obtuse’ and ‘pleasantly on point‘” – Alternative Press

It makes sense that the nutjobs behind such a work of deranged genius would come from bands including Arab on Radar, Doomsday Student and Some Girls.” – Revolver Magazine

Psychic Graveyard, comprised of the minds of groups like Arab On Radar, Chinese Stars, Doomsday Student, Some Girls and All Leather, will release a brand new LP entitled Wilting on June 7th via Artoffact Records.

‘This Butthole Surfers bass guitar sounds awesome! Let’s put some synth and bass guitar together.’ That was the main impetus for creating this song—the craving for a fuzzed-out bass guitar. Over the years, we’ve realized that our songs are birthed in pairs. “Your Smile is a Hoax” is the sister to another Psychic Graveyard track off this upcoming album called “Haunted By Your Bloodline”. Both feature the use of two low-register instruments playing off of each other, with a higher synth note popping obnoxiously out of the mix. We feel as though it helps keep the chaos grounded. Those higher swirl elements come from a forgotten field recording of an ambulance passing by Nate’s house in San Diego. Lyrically, it fills in the listener on some of our experiences as an afflicted band in today’s world, traveling all over the place while we’re wounded, but somehow having a blast while we’re out there—bleeding everywhere.“

MORE ABOUT PSYCHIC GRAVEYARD:
Simply checking the pedigrees (ex-Arab On Radar, Chinese Stars, Some Girls, Doomsday Student, and Hot Nerdz) will only get you so far with Psychic Graveyard. With a manic output of four full-length albums—Loud As Laughter, A Bluebird Vacation, Veins Feel Strange, and now the brilliant Wilting–in nearly as many years, Psychic Graveyard makes consistently thrilling and unsettled sonic artifacts for a world emptied out and flattened by a joyless and sociopathic mediascape. But some things do stay consistent across their ruptured anti-aesthetic: Charles Ovett’s relentless workflow on the drums; the burbling sawtooth substructures, grimy lead synths, and deconstructed guitars supplied by Nathan Joyner and Paul Vieira; and, of course, vocalist Eric Paul’s many narrators and personas, who find form as ghosts howling from within the machine or as agitated surrealists living lives huddled in the grimmest of redoubts. On the new LP Wilting, once again a product of geographic dispersion (Providence and San Diego), the band invites the listener to peel back the pedigrees and fall headlong into their twitchy waking dream.
