About DROUTH:
Formed in Portland in 2012 (originally as Contempt), DROUTH has been stirring the local scene with their powerful concoction of black metal, death metal, doom, and crust. Following their 2014 EP “Skinwalker,” 2015’s “Vast, Loathsome” EP, and the albums “Knives, Labyrinths, Mirrors” (2017) and “Excerpts From a Dread Liturgy” (2020), “The Teeth of Time” marks their most crushing offering yet. Recorded and mixed with the legendary Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Cattle Decapitation) and mastered by Justin Weis (Agalloch, Hammers of Misfortune), this five-track behemoth delivers 40 unrelenting minutes of vicious and melodically adventurous black/death metal.

Navigating the grim reality of being coerced into taking another’s life is an unimaginable ordeal. This somber backdrop sets the tone for the forthcoming 4-track EP titled “Coercion” by Retrograth.
The debut single “Redoubt” is a poignant reflection on the life of a distant relative, Per Persson, who fell in the Battle of Poltava in 1709 during Ukraine’s tumultuous past. Three tracks on the EP pay homage to relatives who served in various wars, while the final one breathes new life into a traditional medieval melody that narrates tales of armed men.
The initial composition, “Redoubt (Poltava),” was crafted in the signature 6/8 time signature, a foundation that sparked experimental diversions into rhythms like 10/8 and 3/4. This musical journey also embraces samples tied to the military ambiance.
As autumn descends, the journey of the World Oscillation tour will continue with shows across Sweden and the United States. The tour commenced in Belgium on May 13 and is set to captivate audiences on both continents.
Stay tuned for the release of the “Coercion” EP in mid-October, featuring the tracks:
Redoubt (Poltava)
Thin Wires (Svir)
Rapture (Peenemünde)
The Armed Man (Trad.)
