Michael Plaster, known for his work with the legendary 90s Projekt ethereal act soulwhirlingsomewhere, returns to Projekt with a mesmerizing ambient release under the moniker yttriphie. an extremely slow motion explosion marks Michael’s debut in the ambient genre, merging tranquility and complexity for a uniquely immersive experience.
The album is set to release digitally on January 24, 2025 via Projekt Records and offers a vaporous journey into atmospheric crescendos and dreamlike melodies.
About the Album
Michael describes the album as “mellow and muted,” with long waves of atmospheric crescendos that sometimes fall to near silence while at other times carve clear, intricate paths. Feathery synthesized patches blend seamlessly with crystalline piano, creating a soundscape that is dreamy, isolated, and filled with longing.
Michael reflects:
“I want the experience of listening to the music to be like going into a tranquil, flowing river. Muted enough to take you along effortlessly, but complex enough to swallow you in its melodies—like little shrouded stories being slowly woven together.”
The album title explores the concept of entropy and the idea that everything in existence is an explosion of energy trying to dissipate, from the Big Bang to the smallest particles in our bodies.

“yttriphie? Oh, it is pronounced IH-tri-fee. Think of the word ‘atrophy,’ but swap the ‘A’ for an ‘Ih’ like in ‘Insist.’ And yes, I made it up.”
