German death/thrashers DEAF AID have emerged from the pandemic with their powerful third record, “Hellgate,” which delves deep into the observations of those troubled times. Addressing the growing division in society, human greed, and our negligence towards Mother Earth, “Hellgate” stands as a sonic manifestation of the ominous future we face.
The album’s brutal opener, “Reign Of Retards,” takes a scathing look at the incompetence of many in leadership positions and sets the tone for the intense and thought-provoking journey that follows.
As a testament to the band’s evolution, “Hellgate” will be the last album featuring the longstanding bassist Sven, with Bastian Hirth confirmed as his successor.
