Ebm bass, synthpop melodies, some metal rattle and a text about one of the most fatal issues of our time – the climate crisis. It’s a summary of Proletarian Poetry’s latest song release Panic and Fear (release date on Bandcamp October 29th, other streaming services November 1st).

Proletarian Poetry’s goal is to make synth with attitude, both musically and lyrically.

The musical inspiration comes from Proletarian Poetry’s "childhood" in the early 1990s when the musical conditions were limited by both economics and technology, with the goal of developing the sound and creating something that at least partially sounds new.

The music is combined with lyrics about current social issues, such as war and peace or the climate crisis, which are the subject of Panic and Fear.

Parts of the chorus in Panic and Fear consist of a quote from a speech at the UN by a well-known Swedish climate activist.

Background

Proletarian poetry was originally a music project based in the dark forests in northern Sweden in the 1990s. In the fall of 2023 we decided to recreate the project, now based in Gothenburg, and make new music.

Since February 2024, the songs of Proletarian Poetry have been played by several radio shows and pod channels in Sweden, England, US, Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal. One song will also be on the exclusive CD accompanying the next issue of the Swedish Svartpunkt Magazine.

Some of the guest vocalists are taking an excessively long time to record their vocals, with deadlines continually being extended, sadly I’ve also been ghosted on a couple of occasions too. Believe you me when I say it is not for a lack of effort on my part. I can only apologise for the delays and promise you I am doing all I can to chase, harass and in some cases replace vocalists so we can get a completed album sooner rather than later. For my part I have learnt some invaluable lessons regarding the reliability and professionalism of certain people and truth be told it has not been a pleasant experience for me.
