Today, Urban Heat have released their latest single, in the form of an endearingly introspective track – ‘Seven Safe Places’. Known for their modern fusion of electronic and post-punk styles, the band rises to new heights with this song. Playfully melancholy, the single takes listeners through an array of emotions, sonically juxtaposing Jonathan Horstmann’s distinct vocals and deep lyrical content with spirited, danceable melodies.
On ‘Seven Safe Places’, Horstmann comments:
“The song is about uncertainty and loss, and how each day of the week we have another opportunity to find a fleeting safety. I imagined a pair of star-crossed lovers on the run, and each day they find a place to hide out that gets compromised and they find themselves looking for the next. Life is like that sometimes. We can’t take any of our safe places for granted because there’s no telling how long they will exist.”

A Pact Unholy
Metal Blade Records
“A Pact Unholy” is the scathing new single from technical death metal architects, COGNITIVE. The track appears on the band’s Abhorrence full-length, set for release on May 17th on Metal BladeRecords.
Once accurately championed by Kerrang Magazine for composing songs that land with “cartilage-crushing force,” Abhorrence carries on tradition with its a maniacal fusion of relentless riffs and thoughtful, devastating lyrics. A raging, draining, and ultimately fulfilling experience, Abhorrence finds the New Jersey powerhouse quintet at their brutal best.
Elaborates guitarist Rob Wharton on their latest single, “‘A Pact Unholy’ kicks off with blistering speeds, guitars are nonstop, and the drums add to the ferocity, all leading into a dissonant, blackened midsection, and a heavy riff exit, with fantasy lyrics speaking about bloodmagic, summoning, and resurrection.”
200 Stab Wounds
Hands of Eternity
Metal Blade Records
Cleveland death metal legends-in-waiting 200 STAB WOUNDS have returned with Manual Manic Procedures, set for release on June 28th through Metal Blade Records.
A superlative sophomore effort that follows their tour de force debut, 2021’s Slave To The Scalpel, the new album Manual Manic Procedures is a brutal slab of old-school death metal with a contemporary edge. Not for the faint-hearted, the record may well be the album that puts classic gore-themed ferocity back into the metal community’s collective consciousness.
Slave To The Scalpel saw 200 STAB WOUNDS insinuate themselves into the minds of extreme metal fans, leading to praise from Pitchfork for their “unpretentious brilliance, pitch-black sense of humor” and an “aesthetic [that’s] built around a chugging, groovy riff that stomps down a path of destruction.” Manual Manic Procedures sees the band upping the ante both musically and lyrically.

Sick Ride
Hopeless Records
“Signing to Hopeless Records means a lot to me. Not only because I have admired and respected them and their roster for many years, but because being recognised by them, as an independent artist from Brazil, has validated me and all my years of hard work. It’s a very special moment in my career and I can’t wait to see what the future holds." – Karen Dió
Karen Dió, the viral punk star who has been grabbing attention on the internet left and right, has signed to Hopeless Records. She simultaneously drops a set of singles, including a re-release of her fan-favorite track “Sick Ride,” which has caught the attention of Sum 41, Fred Durst, Kenny Hoopla, and more. Dió’s raucous, DIY punk anthems have commanded attention across seas all the way from her birthplace of Brazil, where she first laid the foundation for her bustling career. Now, Dió has found global appeal in her music, and is representing Brazilian rock music in a big way.
Karen Dió shares:
"Sick Ride is a raging riot-grrrl anthem of female empowerment! I want people to feel liberated, free and powerful when they listen to it! Use this song as a way to have fun when you’re having a bad day, when you want to party or even in the morning to get your head straight. The song was inspired by the gang vocals of songs like "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani with heavy guitars like L7. It’s short and kicks like a real good punk rock song!"
"Sick Ride, Sick Ride – it’s just stuck in your head, you can’t escape how fun it is – you want to hear more! We loved the music from day one. Meeting Karen was the big win – one of the nicest, kindest, and most talented artists with an aura of passion and excitement around her that is next level. It makes the music even more incredible. We are so excited to work with her!" – Eric Tobin, A&R | Hopeless Records
