âWell, I Tried Drowningâ unleashes raw beauty from the abyssâRose Thorn Necklace drops May 9 via Nuclear Blast Records
Emerging from the shadows with sharpened sorrow and suffocating atmosphere, GHOST BATH unveil their second single âWell, I Tried Drowningââa visceral ode to despair pulled straight from their upcoming full-length Rose Thorn Necklace.
𩸠The Sound of a Bleeding Soul
“‘Well, I Tried Drowning’ is a plea for deathânot by my own hand, but by someone else,â confesses frontman Nameless (Dennis Mikula). âItâs a fantasy rooted in wishful thinking⌠that someone would cut my throat in my sleep, finally ending my life as I drown in my own blood. Wish fulfillment in blunt, gory detail.â
The video, directed by Claudio Marino (Artax Film), translates this brutal beauty into a somber cinematic experienceâa reflection of GHOST BATHâs signature style: depressive black metal with ethereal weight and unbearable honesty.

Forged from the ashes of a conceptual trilogy (Moonlover, Starmourner, Self Loather), Rose Thorn Necklace finds Nameless diving deeper into the abyss. Itâs GHOST BATHâs most intimate and intense offering yet, featuring blackened blasts, melancholic melodies, and moments of delicate emotional collapse.
Recorded across the first half of 2024, drums were tracked by Mike Heller at Heaven and Heller Studios, while all other elements were recorded by Nameless at his home studio. The record was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley, with cover art by Ksenija Tarasova.
