The Godfather of post-punk and goth, Peter Murphy returns with “The Artroom Wonder” 💀 — a poetic, haunting new single pulled from the depths of memory and myth. The track is the latest taste of his forthcoming 10th studio album, Silver Shade, arriving this spring via Metropolis Records.

Following 2024’s dreamy duet with Boy George, “Let The Flowers Grow,” and February’s shimmering synth-funk single “Swoon,” “The Artroom Wonder” takes fans even deeper into Murphy’s sonic labyrinth. 💀

Murphy reflects:

“This is an echo from my 4th year at senior school. Daniel Ash [former Bauhaus bandmate] and I are listening to the mysterious 6th year cool intelligentsia that have gathered in the artroom… the music coming from it is intriguing. We discover the song is [David Bowie’s] ‘The Bewlay Brothers’… mystical and sensual, with the singer’s voice as seductive as anyone I’d ever heard.”

He continues, “My song tells this story in a surreal and oblique fashion. There’s a lowdown that transitions into a vision of the perfected human being, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and closes with a celebration of self-awareness and advancement.”

🔥 With a guest appearance from Justin Chancellor of Tool on bass, The Artroom Wonder is one of many layered collaborations featured on Silver Shade — an album produced by the legendary Youth (Killing Joke, Pink Floyd, The Verve), marking the long-awaited follow-up to Murphy’s 2014 opus Lion.
