Commenting on their forthcoming full-length, the band shares:
“We crafted this album with the intent of sending listeners on a journey that will have their hearts soaring over ancient forests and still valleys, leaving them exhilarated when they reach their final destination.”

Capturing the essence of their sound, By the Moon and the Stars marks the eagerly anticipated full-length debut of Kayas. The record incorporates elements drawn from the full spectrum of metal that imbues triumphant power through melodic movement interwoven with crushing harsh vocals and thunderous basslines. Listeners are taken on a journey through themes of nature, human existence, and fantasy, delivered with compelling melodies and lucid riffs that will make their hearts soar over ancient forests and still valleys.

On the song and the opportunity to work on a Front Line Assembly track, Hamilton shares: "I couldn’t have been more than 13 when I got “Gashed Senses and Crossfire” and “Millenium” in the mail from Columbia house at the dawn of my interest in more abrasive and transgressive music. FLA were certainly one of more formative outfits in those two departments. The prospect of tearing FLA’s components apart and re-ensembling them with impunity was unquestionably daunting, but I never lost sight of how much of a full-circle opportunity it was, and I’m honored that this mix got the green light from Bill.

As will be immediately evident, I kind of lost my mind and went scorched earth on this poor song, so I release it with an earned degree of sadness for anyone who can’t stand the way I’ve vandalized it. My Condolences."

On the new single, the band comments:
"This song is dedicated to our hometown. Siberian life, which was very different. About what I saw from the window of my apartment in Novosibirsk, what surrounded me, what I felt when I lived there. ‘We’re just porcelain birds in nests and concrete slabs.’"

Guitarist Adam Zaars comments on the new single and video release: “Saturn Coming Down is a song that creeps up on you and that hopefully gets thoroughly under your skin. It’s a taste of the new musical areas we’ve charted that’s taken us to places we’ve never ventured into before. An ode to a very old titan who constantly seems to be lurking behind our backs.“

“As many of you will know we have always striven to push our own musical boundaries and to let the music change and grow with us, and vice versa, and to carve out our own niche in metal in general and in our own musical landscape in particular. Saturn Coming Down is the next stage in that ongoing process. It’s a song about Saturn and our various interpretations and imaginings of him throughout the millennia. Helping us with visualizing this we had the pleasure of working with Brendan McGowan who really outdid himself with this video. We also had help from our friend Damón Zurawski who shot us here in Sweden. We couldn’t be happier with the result! Death is the way of the world!“

The group has been steadily building a buzz since meeting on dating app Hinge. The San Francisco Gate praised chokecherry’s "blend of white-hot shoegaze," calling it "the modern sound of the California sun vaporizing the San Francisco fog," all the while accurately predicting that chokecherry are on the verge of blowing up.

Today, the band shares a new single. "Afterglow" is both an air-swept and grunge-soaked anthem flecked with snotty dissonance, showcasing just how special the band is. "Afterglow" was carefully selected as the first listen from chokecherry’s forthcoming EP and the song is a masterclass in emotive songwriting ― and is the instantly relatable result of a painful breakup.

The vintage vibes and dreamy soundscape suits this group of creatives so well, which is further championed by the song’s magical music video directed by Breanna Lynn. Overall, the song is a journey in self-reflection, love lost, letting go, and moving forward. It also hints at the heavier influences that the band incorporates in the upcoming EP, the details of which will be revealed in due course.

The song was penned about Mike’s personal and ongoing relationship with religion, and it manifested as one of his heaviest tracks to date. The track arrives in tandem with a fiery new music video, where Mike’s past experience with religion truly is his cross to bear.
