As mentioned in out interview with founder Jonny McBee last month, The Browning debuts a new single and lyric video titled “HIVEMIND,” marking the electro/metal act’s second release since joining FiXT in September.
Jonny describes the track as quintessentially Browning but elevated to a new level. Thematically, “HIVEMIND” delves into the detrimental impact of social media and technological saturation, illustrating the phenomenon of “groupthink” and societal decline.
Renowned for bridging extreme metal and heavy electronics, The Browning continues this fusion with “HIVEMIND,” infusing it with both classic elements and modern intensity. Released on February 13, the single follows their previous release, “Poison,” on September 27, 2023. Available on Bandcamp, “HIVEMIND” was written and produced by McBee, with Cody Stewart assisting in mixing and mastering.
Before joining FiXT, The Browning released two albums and two EPs with Earache, followed by three albums with Spinefarm. Stewart joined the band in 2012, completing the trio with Akeem Bivens, also known as Hardcore Keem. Notably, The Browning created numerous remixes for Celldweller, leading to their recognition as FiXT’s “largest signing to date” by A&R representative Dave Hansen.
